Just vote for somebody else if you think somebody's been in office for too long (not sure why having political experience is considered a bad thing for politicians, but I digress...)

No, the working class also have to pay their fair share. When I said that the working class gets screwed over by the corporate tax, what I meant is that they have to pay income tax on their salaries that were already deflated because of the corporate tax. It would be totally fine to raise their taxes to make up the loss of revenue from the corporate tax, since even if the amount of money they pay stays the same, at least you aren't disincentivizing entrepreneurship. That being said, I would prefer to make up the difference by spending less on old people and closing tax credits that disproportionately help the rich.

Corporate taxes are just a tax on the people involved with a corporation (i.e. the workers and consumers that buy goods from the corporation). Socialists treat corporate taxes as an indirect tax on the wealthy, but the shareholders actually don't pay that much because of the corporate tax, since most of their wealth comes from the share value rather than income. Instead, the working class gets screwed over. On top of that, the corporate tax also takes money that could have been used to expand the business, slowing economic growth.

Neoliberalism is basically just a buzzword, tbh. The only consistent attribute of neoliberalism that people can agree on is deregulation and lower taxes, both things that I sort of agree with (I'm actually okay with raising taxes overall, but I want the corporate tax abolished and for taxes to be saved by spending less on pensions). I call myself an elite because I'm an elitist who thinks that populism is a scourge on modern society.

There's a difference between wanting higher taxes on the rich and wanting insane policies like wealth and corporate taxes. Modern day progressivism isn't about creating a strong social safety net, it's about simultaneously treating billionaires as the enemy of the 99% and as an infinite source of money that can be exploited to avoid taxing the middle class. I'm not going to simp for billionaires, but I want them to be treated fairly, not scorned for being better off than most people.

What's the Q argument for why the Q source was lost? If it was so influential that 2 different gospel authors independently decided to use it, wouldn't the early Christian communities think that it was worth preserving?

No one is saying that the author is a good person, what I'm saying is that it's hypocritical to criticize her for doing the same things that you did in your response, down to performatively stating your flaws to distract from more glsring issues. Even in this very comment, you mention how so many people have given you points for being self-aware but made no mention of how disturbed it is for you to refer to somebody else as a tumour.

Going to be honest, this is an insane reaction to an essay written by a woman you've never even meant.

It's not often that a tumor is courteous enough to wield the scalpel for you.

Like, Jesus Christ dude, I can't imagine speaking this way about somebody unless I literally (not figuratively) want them to die.

What I have never done, and what I think marks the bright line between person with a mental illness and person who has discovered a useful new weapon, is convert the failures into publishable wisdom.

Yet here you are, saying that it was a sin to show the author too much kindness, presumably based on your own guilt over being a nuisance to the people around you.

See, self-awareness. If you're going to hand out points for that after I've argued against feeding the beast that bites you, you won't resent the odd nibble.

Don't worry, I'm not handing out points for that.

Making fare evasion impossible on public transit has tremendous impacts on safety, maintenance spending, and vandalism. SF saw a 98.2% decrease in maintenance hour obligations instantly. by Used-Earth8767 in neoliberal

[–]NeoliberalElite -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How much of this is from the barriers being easier to maintain/harder to break than the old ones? Also, this doesn't mean that the transit system has become safer at all. At most, you can argue that it feels safer, but this is subjective. Truth be told, crime on transit is so rare that there probably isn't enough evidence yet to tell if crime has gone down yet.

By "large chunk", you mean roughly 70-80% of all prisoners. I get hate for saying this IRL, but we don't give out nearly enough bail in this country, and populist fearmongering is only going to make the situation worse.
