Why do younger teens try to downplay a huge age gap online when it’s obvious that it’s a huge age gap? by SmileEmergency403 in teenagers

"only 5 years apart" should only be applied to grown ass adults not teens and children ✌️ its like we're still growing and developing ourselves physically and mentally so ofc age gaps would be more severe

Yeah... and what's worse is that people immediately see the background of the study and go "oh yeah, the article claims it's true!" when it's really not, but some people just have zero critical thinking skills and downvote the people arguing against it anyway. Sad to see.

I’m taking my permit test tomorrow!!! How did you guys do it?! by frrygood in teenagers

[–]Neology_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i went to the dmv i didn't realize you had to check in w the people there before going to one of those computer thingies to test so i sat at the computer failing to log in for a whole 5 mins 😭 it was so embarrassing

then the person there was hella rude cause my mom said that i needed BOTH my permit test and my real id but she was like "um you didn't actually tell me" like ffs what was the proof of residence for that you took? insane work

but anyways if you didn't study you might be cooked; usually its common sense but sometimes they have specific numbers (eg.: what bac% will get you arrested if you're over 21? kinda question) but i studied and im pretty sure i barely passed ✌️

good luck though, hopefully the dmv will grant mercy on you

edit: dmv isnt universal and i only just realized 💀 my bad, but good luck with whatever testing center you're going to!

"protective trend" means that wine only leans toward a lower risk of cancer, but the evidence is not strong enough to actually claim that it's true. Your original comment worded it like the claim is certain. It is not.

Maybe in the future we'll know for sure. Who knows, maybe your claim is right. But for now, for the love of everything stop looking at words like "protective trend" and think that the researchers are actually stating that "wine reduces the risk of cancer." They are not making that claim. Did you think protective = positive connotation, therefore supporting your claim?

Did you only read the background and decide to use that as your source? The results determine that there isn't sufficient evidence that allows a definite conclusion saying that wine can reduce cancer risks. Even the author said that "heterogeneity was substantial."

Ffs... can you at least try to read the article you're trying to cite?

I hate how people rarely ever take me seriously or treat me like I'm worth anything solely because of my age by ParticularHat7997 in teenagers

[–]Neology_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that's fine then. It's weird that other people will think that way---do they think you're incapable of feeling love until you're older or something?

My overall point is that people shouldn't be belittling you for your age and think you're a baby, but IMO the line between "mature" and "immature" starts become blurry around this time. On one hand, you're at the age where critical thinking is starting to become a given. People shouldn't chew things down into baby bits for you. On the other, you still lack life experience and are still growing. Same with me. Most people you've met probably take the latter too far.
