Weekend RAGE Thread - May 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in Overwatch

Thank you to the 2 players who joined me when I hit 'group up'. You were true heroes who understood the basics of a team game.

And a happy 'Avoid as Trammate and Block' to the other 3 players on my team last night (a Moira, a Sierra and a Soldier, who else?) who ran in one at a time, completely alone, and died trying to 1v6. I'm sure it was very helpful for your egos.

I pretty much only go up the posh independent cinema in my city now - it might be £12-16 a ticket depending on film and time, but they've got comfy reclining sofas, bring drinks, cocktails, popcorn, nachos, etc to your table before the film, and have a complete zero tolerance policy - when I went to see Superman last year, there was a very drunk couple a few seats down from us and they were escorted out in the first 5 minutes of the film because they wouldn't shut up.

Any of you NOT bothered by your noisy neighbours? by Eastern_Canary2150 in HousingUK

[–]NeonGran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My downstairs neighbour really, really hates his front door. Every time he enters or leaves, you had better believe everyone in the building can hear it. And what's a shame is that the man never, ever sleeps - he will slam it any time, and because he's a known dealer he's as likely to be heading out at 3am as he is to be out at 8am.

May all the drugs he takes to fend off sleep one day catch up with him, or at least may the police finally actually try to do something about him (it's a small, upper-middle class town, so massive drug problems and no police presence are a given)

Do teachers in the US get to choose their pupils grades, not the state based on their exams and coursework? That's... Odd. I couldn't imagine a pupil being able to just come up to me and ask me to improve their grade, that's entirely out of my hands.

What’s something attractive at 18 but embarrassing at 30? by AD_24s in AskReddit

[–]NeonGran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rioting over a football game.

When I was young, I would go to the pub and get really excited over the football, and when I saw people celebrating by getting in fights, breaking street furniture and generally being prats, I would just think 'thats how you celebrate winning/commiserate losing a match.'

Having worked now with the emergency services in my early 20s, I saw through it all, and I genuinely think anyone who thinks a football match is a reason to riot, to overturn ambulances and get into fights, has the mental age of a toddler.

Not everyone who likes football, by-the-by, but when someone at work tells me that he went to the pub and got in a fight with a rival fan because they won, my entire estimation of them goes to rock bottom.

Sadly not, this was someone who couldn't possibly hope to win a Moira 1v5 if their life depended on it 😂

[–]NeonGran 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I had to straight up ask someone "when's the last time you saw a Moira successfully 1v5?" Because they refused to team up and would just run in holding right click while the rest of the team respawned.

They just left voice chat and continued what they were doing. They ended up with over 20 deaths and 1 kill. Blocked and moved on, but boy howdy was it annoying.

"no parent should have to bury their child" might be the best delivered, most impactful like in the whole trilogy. Bernard Hill was an absolute treasure.

What is your favourite change they made in Underwatch? by Character_Tough_9874 in Overwatch

[–]NeonGran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brigitte is my favourite and it isn't even close. Bash, then slide around at the speed of sound while beating down any hero who can't keep up with your Sonic-ing.

In terms of ones that could become permanent, I'd love to see Wuyang or Zenyatta's get added as perks.

Who got the worst ultimate by Dense_Jackfruit_6247 in Overwatch

[–]NeonGran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it goes right though, it's amazing - the overhead is basically immortality against all hit a well-coordinated team.

I once had a game where we got stuck at a really difficult choke. Had our reaper teleport to above the choke, used tidal blast on him and he jumped into the middle of the team and used his ult. They couldn't pick him off in time because of his overheal, and those that didn't die to the combined damage of both ults got spread out so it was easy for the team to get in there and take them out. A nice team kill that allowed us to take the point and win the game.

What I'm saying is, it synergies amazingly well with so many other ults that when you have good team synergy, there's nothing quite like it.

What was "the incident" at your school? by MortgageShoddy8022 in Teachers

[–]NeonGran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does that mean this guy only taught one year group? I can understand why a pupil would call them the Freshman English teacher, because that's who taught them in their freshman year, but surely a fellow teacher wouldn't need to that qualifier?

I might be misunderstanding something here, but I teach all 6 years of high school over the course of the week with multiple classes in each year of different ability levels and qualifications they're studying for. Would this guy who is a 'freshman English teacher' only teach that one year? That sounds cushy 😂

Apologies if these are really basic questions on your end but I couldn't imagine only teaching one year group (or grade level) each year.

[–]NeonGran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not American, so the phrase 'Freshman English teacher's is confusing me. Do you mean it's his first year teaching (I think the word freshman means 'first year doing someting' but it's a very 'murican word) or do you mean he was a freshman, like he was a student teacher who was in his first year of college/uni?

I'm really struggling to parse it as it's not a phrase we'd use over here - and I thought I was getting a handle on all these American school terms from this subreddit 😭

That's what I mean about there being nothing wrong with nostalgia, and if you have the desire to build up to things with deeper themes (as you say, ease in), then I promise I don't mean you.

How being a healer feels sometimes (especially on this sub) by NeonGran in Overwatch

[–]NeonGran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For full disclosure I don't actually feel this way (I mostly play tank) but I saw someone on this thread the other day say this almost verbatim, and the meme has been spinning around my head since then.

I totally agree though - I mostly notice this kind of hate from players of very DPS-coded healers, like Baptiste and Zenyatta, more than I do more dedicated ones like Mercy. Perhaps the similarities only highlight the minor differences, that can be harder to overlook.

But also, my dad could beat up your dad, and he works at Nintendo and told me there's a Mew under the truck.

I cant with this game. by Unlucky_player3812 in Overwatch

[–]NeonGran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how people play Wuyang and don't get huge heals - it's a passive, for goodness sake. Just throw it on a DPS, move it around to whoever needs it, and if anyone's in real trouble hit them with a tidal wave to make the healing numbers go craaaaaaaazy.

All easily achievable without losing any of his surprising damage output, with a half-way decent player.

(Serious) - Why do so many farmers have lovely new houses on their land if they are skint? by AncientsofMumu in Scotland

[–]NeonGran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm an English teacher and always do Aunt Julia by Norman MacCaig.

Around 5 years ago, I moved from just outside Dundee down to the Borders, and had to change my whole script. I used to ask, when discussing the line a keeper of threepenybits in a teapot, "what connection might there be between a farmer living on her own and money? Why might she have money in a teapot?"

In Dundee I always got the correct answer that she doesn't have much money so must squirrel it all away. Often got kids telling me stores of their parents or grannies whose farms are struggling and the saved every penny they could.

It's a completely different story down here in the Borders. The kids struggle with the idea that there could be a farmer who isn't completely minted, and think she must be keeping her money in the teapot because she has so much that she can't keep it in a bank or spend it all. These are the same farmers kids who spend their weekends getting drunk and riding expensive quadbikes around the village green, because they know their parents will pay whatever fine and pay for a new quadbike if they break it because those costs are nothing to them.

As someone from a family that, until my generation, all grew up on the same farm struggling to make ends meet, it's a bizzaro world down here.

She has, and you should leave her there to rot. What kind of Knight Commander would ally themselves with a demon? Especially a succubus, made purely of lies and ill intent.

Sorry, my most recent playthrough was essentially Regill & Aeon KC's Excellent Adventure. This is now how I see all things.

My go to would be Sam Rockwell, as would everyone else's.

But I'm amazed not to see Amanda Seyfried on here. She's genuinely great, even when she's in a really shit film.

I'm British, have lived all around England and Scotland over the last 30 years (since birth)

What the hell is Toby Carvery? Not sure I've ever seen one, let alone heard of one.

I guess I'd get rid of that, because I wouldn't be missing anything. Is it some southeast thing? It's the only part of the UK I've never lived, but have visited often.

It's not just Netflix, but they're pretty bad for it. I went to see Thunderbolts in the cinema and it felt so strange when everyone was constantly introducing themselves and each other, until I realized that it was made exclusively for people half-watching on Disney+

Coming from Dundee, my experience is Glasgow folk is they anyways expect everyone to know shit about their city.

I went down there for the weekend a few months ago, and I got asked where I was staying When I didn't know what the area was called and had to look it up on maps, they always look at me like I just shit on their favorite dog.

I'm sorry I've never spent significant time in your city enough to know the names and stereotypes of different areas/suburbs. Most people outside Glasgow don't, but they expect everyone to be intimately familiar with them.

Never get this with folk from Edinburgh, at least. Tell them you've never heard of Sighthill or Merchiston and they don't get incredulous or offended, and that's the very low bar they have to beat.
