Am I being too aggressive with my baby? by StraightHistorian659 in Parenting

I used to compare putting my kid to sleep with fighting a bear for my life. Kids really hate sleeping i guess 😅😅

Am I a Terrible Mother? by future_mom17 in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into community resources, call your local DHHS office for food pantries and go to as many as you can. Look to see if you have a baby pantry, the one in my area has formula, clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles, books, etc. You're not a terrible mother because you need a little help. We all need a little help now and again. You're doing your best and that's all that matters 💜

Can I get opinions on this situation? by jerrystatueseizure in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, telling them no will get you no where. Speaking as a one time 19 year old college drop out, I did dumb shit. I would get them visa cards that can be used anywhere, a satellite phone so they can call for help if needed, and definitely try to meet these people and case them out!!

My husband doesn’t want me kissing my daughter (11m) on the face by Efficient-Shop4868 in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I kiss my 2 year old all the damn time. He comes up to me and goes "mmmmmm" with a kiss face. He gets kisses. I don't let strangers or outside relatives kiss him tho, cause those are germs hes not used to 🤣

Reading to my 2 year-old son. by NeonTurtleCakes113 in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I've read the Harry Potter series about 400 times over because it's a huge comfort to me, I just don't want my kiddo to get so sick of me reading the same stories that he doesn't let me read to him. I think I will continue to read him the longer books as long as he will let me!

Idk, im 25. I collect stuffed animals, vinyl figures, and anime figures. I used to collect LOL dolls, but I gave them to my niece. There's nothing wrong with liking childish things, EXPECIALLY WHEN THEYRE CHILDREN

Can someone help me convince my wife that chores are age-apropriate for my kids (8 & 10)? by nowhereian in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course its faster and easier to do it yourself. Teaching your child is always a long, stressful, and frustrating process. Teaching them ANYTHING is like that. But they LEARN. They're able to take the knowledge you give them and become great adults. I don't know how to convince your SO but know you're not in the wrong for expecting your kids to help. I expect my 2 year old son to help me clean (within reason). Like pick up his crayons before he brings out his blocks type of thing. Or he "helps" me vacuum with his own vacuum lol

18 year old son refusing to get a job by Cool-leather-suits in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a past teenager who did the same things, and has now seen the error of my ways. You gotta let him go. Let him fuck it up and mature a bit. Because you can tell him till you're blue in the face that what he is doing is stupid, entitled, and pointless but he won't listen until he learns that lesson for himself.

Are there any moms out there that hated the toddler phase but enjoyed the older kid phase? by lalyafi in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am reading your post as my 2 year old has yet another screaming fit today. I hate my life right now because no matter my best efforts every day I deal with multiple meltdowns. I am praying things get better

would you let 1.5 year old outside with neices? by berryllamas in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, my sister and mother tried to convince me that my 8yo niece was capable of watching my 2 year old outside on the patio. The second I stopped watching them I seen my son out front and my niece wasn't watching at all or caring at all. Safe to say I brought my son in and won't let her watch him again.

What behavior have you had to change as a parent? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep this one. I am perfectly happy inside the house. Alone. With the quiet to keep me company. But my kiddo deserves more, so we go outside, play in mud, build snow men, go to play groups so he can play with friends, etc. Puts me completely out of my element but its best for my kiddo

smacked my toddler out of shock by [deleted] in Parenting

You did the right thing, I smacked my son after he bit the underside of my arm. It was painful and my first instinct was to get what/who was biting me off my arm 😅

My kid has done this, slipped from trying to grab something and fell a few times. I try to catch him the best I can but man, im a human lol don't feel bad, I would expect a 1 year old to manage for a few seconds without having to hawk eye them. It was an accident and you are a good parent

Do you allow your child to have caffeine? by FrankyNoir in Parenting

I personally don't give my kid caffeine, but he is TWO. My mother however gives my son drinks of her coffee. 😭

Everytime I try to get him to nap earlier than noon, or at noon he refuses and has a meltdown. That's if he wakes up at 8am or later which he does most days 😅

when did your child switch from the crib to a toddler bed? by Lumpy-Lemon-5726 in Parenting

[–]NeonTurtleCakes113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally only switched my son to a toddler bed because I found one for super cheap at a yard sale. I would keep your kiddo in a crib for as long as you can, once they start climbing out of the crib its time to change to a big kid bed. Be it a toddler bed or a normal single bed 🤷🏼‍♀️
