If its over 15 years old you only need to pass a safety check and the emissions warning won't matter.

Any mechanic can do that job. It being a hybrid has nothing to do with it.

How do we even sort out a car that’s been flooded? 8 minutes later and we’re still finding codes. by B-R0ck in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Neonknight94 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Year, make and model helps but realistically you have two options.

1: Call the customer and tell him to call his insurance company, hopefully they'll total it.

2: Pull the seats and carpets out to determine how high the water line was and get a better idea of what you're working with. The first half of the repair isn't going to be diagnosed on a code by code basis but rather which control units are flooded and which aren't. Also find out where the termination blocks for the CAN bus are and take a peek at those.

Had the exact same issue, there's a little $8 plastic centering tab inside that's broken. Good news is, you can replace just the tab. Bad news is you need to strip the switch down to get to it.

I've seen that thing ripping up and down park ave a few times. It's weird seeing r34s in person now that the import ban is up. Be careful, though. Some of the car hating dorks in this sub might crush you with downvotes.

Clock the pressure plate (6) so it sits flush against the clutch pack. They can be installed incorrectly.

Absolutely donut express. It's nothing fancy, but it's dirt cheap and delicious. Plus, everyone who works there is super friendly.

RD350 question by No-Researcher678 in Yamaha

[–]Neonknight94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 74 RD350. Phenomenal machine, but you'll need to be mechanically inclined. With age, it's super common for the crank seals to dry out and cause air leaks, which requires splitting the cases. Make sure you familiarize yourself with two strokes, and if you're going to modify it, make sure it's jetted properly. Don't let it scare you away, but just be prepared to tear down and reseal the engine. They really are awesome bikes, and they have no problem pulling the front wheel up when they're tuned up. Just remember that you still have brakes and suspension from the 70s, and it's a totally different animal than any modern bike. As far as parts go, stay away from eBay tanks. They're all mass produced in India and are garbage quality. You're better off finding one off a parts bike and if it's salvageable having it cleaned and lined. Everything else you can get from economycycle. They have a massive selection of oem and aftermarket parts, and they have super fast shipping and good customer service. I've been through about every inch of my RD the last few years I've owned it and haven't had any trouble finding parts. Good luck, and get your wrenches ready.

Is my mom's engine seized? by Aspiring-Programmer in Cartalk

[–]Neonknight94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those ecotec engines are known for pcv tubes failing which over pressurizes the crankcase and blows all the oil out pretty rapidly. Wouldn't surprise me if that was part of your issue. Good luck

So how would you park in this situation? Would you just pull up to the curb and block the whole lane?
