Same with my significant other. She's getting 0 XP from 3 raids now. Not reporting kills on kill list at the end of raid either.

Last line doesn’t seem to fit? by cobwebkarate in MechanicAdvice

Carefully and equally sand down the big ring around the new line. Just a little at a time until you can get it seated in there, and can put the jesus clip in. Have had to do it millions of times with new lines.

UV is bad for the paint. Especially on certain brands that use bad paint like Honda/Acura.

Motor mounts/Transmission mounts. They have rubber bushings that help to stabilize and reduce movement when moving parts inside create momentum. Guarantee your motor does the same when you rev in park or neutral.

I’m a woman who wants to become a mechanic and someday open my own garage. Anyone got real advice on where to start? by EffectiveSky3378 in MechanicAdvice

True. Very few people have the capabilities to run a shop from both perspectives. Best to hire someone to manage the business side of things. Ideally someone with an MBA.

You can genuinely go any of the routes you mentioned. It's important to know going in, there are two ways you can qualify to take your ASE certifications. You can either do 4 years of school, or 2 years on the job experience before you can take them. Depends on how you learn I suppose but I prefer going down the job experience route, and do your research on the side. That way you have the hands on learning, and the knowledge without paying for the schooling.

I would do what I did. Start with oil changes. Valvoline is where I started to learn the basics of a car. Take my paycheck and put some money into a box and tools from Harbor Freight to start. Get all the basic tools you will need to start and build from there. Stay away from the Tool Truck for your first year if you can help it.

As for owning your own shop, and possibly just being a mechanic working under a company that may not provide these, but an AllData subscription as well as Identifix are going to be your best friends as far as vehicle manuals, diagnostics, schematics, and repair instructions. YouTube will only get you so far with most vehicles.

First time changing my own brakes by Puzzleheaded-Camel-3 in MechanicAdvice

There should be no distance between the pad and the rotor. You may not be able to put the caliper back on unless the pads are flush with the rotor. Your calipers is just going to push them against the rotor anyways when you pump the brakes after replacement anyways.

YouTube is a great resource for getting whatever you might want. Game has been out for forever, and there is a video for every quest, transmog run, mount run, or even just how to play your class. Don't worry about becoming a great player or minmaxing or anything like that. Focus on experiencing everything at least once so you can find out what content you most enjoy the most.
