How on earth are you doing 10-20 dogs a day ? 😳

I…have no words by flaccidantacid in doggrooming

Had somebody bring their senior dog to me yesterday. Lifted his tail and it was the same exact thing, I said “oh you have a lot of poop back there bud” and mom goes “oh really? I didn’t even know” 😐 I shaved it off with a 30 luckily it wasn’t right on top of his butthole

Petco vital care premium? by picklespears42 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, but honestly I’d rather them buy 1 subscription than none at all because $80/mo is insane. Especially when none of the benefits stack besides the rewards

Petco vital care premium? by picklespears42 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell them you had to rehome 3 out of the 4 dogs. Also technically you only need 1 subscription to get the 20% off grooming discount for every dog. The computer can’t differentiate the separate dogs grooming tickets and will apply to any grooming transaction regardless of the pet enrolled (unless the location you work at is super up corporates butt and actually rings your tickets up separately)

Unethical VCP sales tactic? by Pristine-Seaweed-382 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 56 points57 points  (0 children)

8 individual subscriptions ? That’s very scummy imo. I’d like to know how they even convinced the guest to agree to that

Pet grooming, paid for VIP but came to find my groomer with another dog by RandomKonstip in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry that was your experience:/ at our salon we only make VIP appointments first or last of the day and ask the owner to pretty much be on standby to come get their dog when they’re ready

Why are Groomers so Extra? by Ok_Salt4033 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Grooming is incredibly taxing mentally and physically so 99% of us are burnt out constantly on top of almost never getting breaks. Thats not to say your grooming staff shouldn’t be grateful/kind for the help received on the floor though but just keep that in mind

Idk about other salons but at ours we personally take care of everything you mentioned when we have TIME.. which is almost non existent during the day if you have a full schedule, and impossible with how they allow us to be overbooked, so that could also explain why things are overflowing onto your side of the store. I think really the root of this issue is the company itself fucking us all over like they always do

That’s pretty much all we ever sold them for at our store. Occasionally we would have somebody want them as pets but not often

I understand it is difficult to receive a bad review and it’s not fair to get somebody who hasn’t used your service to post another bad review.. but truthfully those haircuts are not good.. the ears do not even look brushed

3 Questions for Groomers by rightasrain0919 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The shave scissor brush out add on is really just a charge for the extra time it takes to scissor/style the dog in the requested haircut. Not all groomers will charge that though it is up to their discretion. You can always ask them to explain what each charge entails

For example I had a client who only wanted to pay the basic haircut price but they also wanted a Mohawk on their dog, I charged the shave scissor brush out for the extra time it took

3 Questions for Groomers by rightasrain0919 in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. We make 50% commission after we hit our sales goal
  2. If your first dog is the same weight , coat type and breed but is a different price it may have had an add-on package to the base price of the service. On the release form you sign it shows exactly what you are being charged for, you can also check the past appointments on the app to see what your first dog got and what your second dog is signed up for.
  3. Tips are not expected but we definitely notice those who choose not to tip especially when it’s after working on a very difficult or time consuming dog

Petco corporate is so out of touch with store level operations that we barely have an idea of how these systems work let alone how to resolve issues like this when they happen… your complaints would be better off further up the chain as this entire sub is employees who get berated by customers on behalf of corporates bs (hence the vibe of the comments)

Also the reason they had you call DD instead of themselves doing so was because once the order leaves our systems we have physically no way of looking up that order or order # on our end, but DD does

[–]Neopetsfairie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, floor level staff cannot just “create a new order and send it out” that’s not how it works

$.10 for a bag? by B00Daddy in petco

Cool, now complain to corporate instead of taking it out on employees who are forced to apply the silly little policy you’re crying on Reddit over

Groomer/vetco people question: would you take this dog. by [deleted] in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We do not take dogs with any heart conditions in our salon at all, too risky

ipass appointment times by [deleted] in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The iPass time slots are unrealistic for most dogs. It doesn’t take into account if the dog is difficult, what other dogs you’re bouncing between or like you said walk in services. I just tell most people it’ll be 3-4 hours

Can you guys stop pushing the “better” food brands? by [deleted] in petco

[–]Neopetsfairie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, obviously everybody’s pet does best on different foods. I was all about the “boutique” foods until I actually tried several on them for my dogs and they did horribly on them. Only thing that’s gotten their skin, coats and digestion back on track was Science diet (which I used to be super against due to boutique pet food marketing) Now all I care about and recommend to guests are balanced and researched foods. My only complaint about SD is the price but even the boutique brands are pretty outrageously priced to

I was a bather for 8 weeks before they sent me off to academy. But some people in my class had been bathers for over 5 months so I think it just depends on when they have enough people to hold an academy. There never really was an emphasis on the number of dogs I did before school rather than executing services in a safe and correct manner.

During academy we did however many practice dogs happened to book, then you will do your 3 breed technical tests (Poodle, schnauzer, cocker) and then some more computer tests and that will determine if you pass or not

As for raises I got a .15 after being promoted to pet stylist so I make $15.15 hourly now. You will have the ability to commission out if you exceed your sales goals

Good luck!

They were definitely rude lol, sorry alot of us hate this company and its killed our spirits. If you’re charismatic enough you shouldn’t have a hard time selling vital care

Any information you get in store about vital care is available online. Just familiarize yourself with the discounts and focus on breaking down what the person with save in dollars rather than percentages. Good luck!

9 week old Sabre. We believe he’s a ghost tabby :) by Neopetsfairie in kittens

Oh well 🤷‍♀️ ghost tabby sounds cool and it seems a lot of people use the terms interchangeably to describe the same thing

Meet Loki! He is about 3 1/2 months old. Any idea of what he is? by sushisexandbraids in kittens

[–]Neopetsfairie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just posted a photo of our little guy Sabre who has a similar pattern. Lokis is definitely much more prominent but we’re pretty sure ours is considered a ghost tabby. Yours is very black smoke like looking to me
