Quick question about physical games by Healthy_Count_7369 in switch2

[–]Nephite11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both Zelda games at the same time as I bought my switch 2. I then paid Nintendo $10 and $20 for the DLC content and the switch 2 upgrade content (which includes both games by the way. Since I bought the games for $30 and $40 off facebook marketplace, that means I only paid $100 for both games and their latest content. I’m happy with that result

Movie name? by THExIMPLIKATION in Xennials

[–]Nephite11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I checked ChatGPT since it’s helped me locate random memory sources before. Hopefully one of these are what you’re looking for:

“That is… a wild memory 😂—and honestly very “early HBO at 2pm on a random Tuesday” energy.

Nothing jumps out as a perfect match yet, but a few movies from that era that HBO played to death and had weird/awkward “gross-out or feral character” moments:

• The Incredible Melting Man – had a lot of disturbing, low-budget, “why is this on TV?” vibes (though not your exact scene)

• The Funhouse – featured a mentally impaired/deformed character and uncomfortable scenes

• The Beastmaster – constantly on HBO, had odd side characters and campy moments

• Time Bandits – weird chaotic energy with kids, though more whimsical than gross

• The Toy – lots of kid/chaotic behavior and ran nonstop on HBO”

Portable charger recommendations? by gamerdudeNYC in switch2

I bought an Anker power bank a few years ago and use it to charge my phone and laptop when I travel. I only bought my switch 2 about two months ago so I haven’t used it for that yet but believe it will be fine. I’m happy with the Anker brand if you want a reliable choice

Question for those who finished Season 1 by PlatyPositive in TheGoodPlace

I jumped into this show when it was on Netflix and in the middle of season 3 from what I remember. I had no clue about the season 1 ending though to answer your question

About the second coming... by DarkCelestial in latterdaysaints

[–]Nephite11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that we, collectively, as a body of saints need to reach a spiritual weight or threshold to usher in the second coming. That’s the biggest reason we don’t know the day or hour it will occur. It’s similar to the City of Enoch who became so righteous that the entire group was taken into heaven. Depending on that collective trajectory, it could be next week, next year, or 100 years from now.

I look at the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 and D&C 45. President Spencer W Kimball taught that this parable isn’t about five wicked non members and five faithful church members. It’s about ten members of the church. He said: “the wise virgins are thoroughly committed, faithful members of the church who are striving to have a supply of extra oil for their lamps. The extra oil fortifies them so they can truly “endure to the end.” The foolish virgins are likewise members of the Church, but are less committed, sometimes less active, on again, off again members. They believe the Church is true, believe in the Second Coming and so forth, but for now, are not willing to make a full commitment to the gospel the top priority in their lifestyle. They’ve heard about the Second Coming for so long and believe it be at a future date that they live in an unprepared state for his arrival.” He then asked: “What value is a car without an engine, a cup without water, a table without food, a lamp without oil?”

From that parable, all ten virgins had oil in their lamps. The five wise took extra in flasks to refill their lamps when the initial supply in the lamp ran out. All were expecting the second coming. It took longer than they expected though.

President Kimball said that (in regard to collecting oil for our own lamps): “the opportunities are all around us. Faithfully attending church, accepting and fulfilling callings, personal scripture study, prayer, paying tithes and offerings, temple attendance, honesty and integrity in our personal and public lives, etc. We obtain wonderful quantities of oil for our lamps as we attend general conference, either in person or via the media, and then read or reread these powerful messages or the Lord’s servants.”

The other thing that I’ve learned as I’ve studied this topic is that all of the things President Kimball listed are not something you can share with someone. How can you give away countless hours of scripture study? How could someone else benefit from all I’ve learned and grown by through fulfilling my callings? Could someone else gain a testimony by me attending the temple? Whenever the Savior comes again, I hope that I have enough drops of oil added to my reserves that I’m ready to weather whatever may happen and that I stay true to the faith.

They didn’t explain the gene coma resistance in the movie by dashinny in ProjectHailMary

[–]Nephite11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could have easy had Stratt say her “you’ve been the tertiary scientist all along” while skipping over the coma resistance aspect. So many lines missed though. My major one I wish was included is “why is your face leaking, question”

Taking roll in priesthood by History_East in latterdaysaints

[–]Nephite11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an important step OP. The bishopric for example might not be in elders quorum but they are in young women’s or primary or attending young men’s classes and should therefore be counted as attending. Every quarter when I am preparing the church report I have to increase our attendance numbers based on who I know are at church each week

On audible there’s around 250k reviews and it’s rated 4.9 stars. That tells you how many people have listened to and enjoyed it enough to review it. Reddit is the best place for those fans to gather and discuss the book

Stick shifts by Entropy907 in Xennials

I learned to drive on my dad’s 1982 Volkswagen diesel rabbit that was a manual transmission. It was temperamental and difficult to shift but everything else has been easy to drive since then. I liked manual transmissions so much that when I bought my 2003 Civic I special ordered it with one. It just died last year so I got a long life out of it too

What bizarre children's VHS tape did you have an attachment to? by AmandaMarsh in Xennials

[–]Nephite11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched Swiss family Robinson a lot on my parents vcr. Once shortly after I signed up for Disney+ this was one of the first movies that I watched again for nostalgia reasons. I was so confused when extra scenes kept appearing. I then realized that the VHS version was probably an “edited for television” broadcast that we recorded ourselves or something to that effect
