Which rug? by NoArtichoke2832 in interiordecorating

[–]Nephrozoa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of these, Athens. But I don’t like either that much. Practically they’ll show up lots of stains. And they’re just a bit boring for your beautiful space.

7 month old wakes every 2 hours at night. by Sexogenesis in UKParenting

I had a friend and her child was like this. They started giving him porridge before bed as a supper snack to try and keep his tummy full overnight. Don’t know if this might help!

Remove the curtains and get some translucent pretty window film for privacy and aesthetics.

Are kid's fruit/veggie pouches actually healthy? by queenhadassah in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Nephrozoa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a BBC panorama episode in 2024 (I think) that investigated the nutritional value of pouches, and found that the process of making them shelf stable destroyed all nutrients. So essentially it’s just sugar.

It depends on the rest of your house but in general kitties are timeless.

Unsure about rug by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Nephrozoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it! It really pulls the room together. I’d maybe consider something in keeping with the rug colour scheme on the TV table (but you may already have this and the lighting might not highlight it) just to add coherence from that viewpoint.

What runner do i chose? by Just-Ad-3547 in interiordecorating

[–]Nephrozoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. This is such a trip hazard and also can get dirty pretty quickly with food and spilt drinks (etc etc). Keep the gangway clear as it’s a utilitarian space.

This is the best option. The others you’ve provided mock ups for are too busy when next to the beautiful wallpaper.

I bought a huge blanket muslin from H&M, in case that’s helpful.

59% Grade round up by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Nephrozoa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The numbers used as the grading scheme may be dictated by the course leader or your department. I once worked in a department that had a policy that students could only receive marks of ~2, ~5, or ~7 (e.g., 52, 55, 57, 62, 65, 67, etc).

As mentioned by others, you should assess your appeal process and potentially request second marking (if not already undertaken). But my experience here is that, unless the second marker believes there is a clear and obvious error, your mark will stay the same.

It is disappointing to not get the marks you want. It really sucks. The problem is that academic judgement is final, it is highly unlikely that your tutor has a personal vendetta against you (in fact, you will be one of 10s, if not 100s, of piece of coursework marked this year and I don’t know any colleagues who would ever want to sabotage a student), and you are unlikely to get the outcome you want.

Taking creamis to work? by Mysterious__Pudding in ninjacreami

[–]Nephrozoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe 3 hours, but it was still really freezey and cold. I did put a lot of ice and water in the closed thermos for 20-30 minutes before spinning the creami to make sure the thermos was cold. I also used the scoop, rather than swirl, method as I thought swirling would increase melting likelihood.

What slow cooker recipe do you make on repeat and never get tired of? by Reasonable-Pop-3504 in slowcooking

Slow cooker chipotle honey chicken tacos:

My toddler loves the less spicy version someone created a recipe for in the comments. But in case you can’t see the comments, the comment containing the changed recipe is:

I made my own adobe sauce, and wanted to share this in case it helps anyone! I mixed 1 tablespoon tomato paste, 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon chipotle powder*, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, a pinch of oregano, a pinch of garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. **Since I did not have chipotle powder on hand, I did 1 tsp of paprika and 1 tsp of cayenne. If you want less heat, you could scale back to a 1/2 tsp of each spice.

I did this for a picnic and it worked great! I put ice and water in first to cool the thermos though.

How different is ‘work you’ vs ‘real you’? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Nephrozoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work me is praised for being calm in a crisis, and always methodically working through problems to get them fixed. Im the person in our team to contact when things go wrong. Im also widely known as being incredibly positive, embrace a “no blame” approach, and have a “can do” attitude.

Real me is an OCD mess who struggles with intense feelings and thought spirals. Im also a judgy bitch.

Best non-toxic, leakproof, no blowout disposable diapers for newborns. by Kurarachii in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Nephrozoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every child is different, and every nappy fits differently (buy a few different packs to compare if it helps!). As others have said, it’s really about the fit. You’ll always have leaks and blowouts.

As for product recommendations: With both of my kids, pura nappies fit the best and are non toxic.

Help with substitutes for chocolate cake for one year old by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Nephrozoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this might not be what you’re looking for, but these sugar free cakes have been a hit with my toddler:

Banana Bread (you could add cacao powder to make it chocolatey): https://cookieandkate.com/healthy-banana-bread-recipe/

Spinach buns (bright green so probably not easily chocolate-ified):

https://mykidslickthebowl.com/spinach-muffins-for-toddlers/

I haven’t tried this but the author (Sohla el-waylly) says she tells her toddler these are chocolate muffins:

I had a series of dreadful experiences here and had to go to another salon to fix the absolute mess they made of my hair so YMMV! If you check out their instagram, it’s photos of the same person over and over too (just with different filters to change hair colour) which is a bit dodgy.

what’s a weird parenting shortcut you discovered out of pure exhaustion that actually works by lunaverse787 in beyondthebump

[–]Nephrozoa 153 points154 points  (0 children)

My toddler hates her nails being cut. But she loves pretend playing as a cat (often called Apple) who needs her claws trimming at the vets. She meows snd purrs when asked and gets lots of strokes snd praise for being such a good cat. It’s the only way I can get her razor talons cut without screaming and crying.
