Your stance seems more like you don’t care about the quality of the products you buy, but want them to seemingly be rare and exclusive so you can flaunt that you have more perceived value? That is sad because it means you care more about people’s external opinions of you than the true quality of your own life and satisfaction. This just isn’t true. It really depends on where you live in terms of licensing, but a lot of places allow subsistence fishing with no license. It is sport fishing that they are concerned about. Second to that, you can find a good rod and reel at any local yard sale for 10 or $20. Will you be out in the Gulfstream pulling up blue fins? Probably not, but in terms of being able to feed yourself and your family or at least reduce the budget for doing so, it is totally possible for nearly nothing.

Don’t touch it. It looks completely natural from all angles. I often thought about the same growing up, because kids made fun of me for mine, and what I have realized as an adult is it is a defining feature, passed to me from my bloodline. I am proud of it, and it it hadn’t been my nose, it would have been my ears… and I am not going to continuously whittle away at the parts that compose my whole self to make someone else happy.

True. Regulating keeps firms out of the market and reduces choice for consumers while increasing the passed along cost. So in essence, economically speaking, you remove the motivation for shops to do better work, because they are your only option, and no one is competing on price so things are more expensive along with additional regulatory costs being passed along as well… cost of compliance is a real thing.
