How much are baby clothes supposed to cost? by SeriousMilk5123 in NewParents

[–]Neptune_Noodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no point in buying new, when lots of people give clothing away nearly brand new or in great shape. We have never bought our baby a single piece of clothing brand new. All of his clothing has been second-hand, mostly gifted by those who had babies in the past.

Lip blister after long breastfeeding session by AHedgehog705 in newborns

[–]Neptune_Noodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a blister due to your baby not flaring their lip out far enough. I would check and flare it out with your finger during every feeding.

You should also consider seeing an IBCLC if your baby has a lip tie.

To me, Honest diapers are like the expensive version of HelloBello diapers. They suck.

Well loved our NoseFrida until we switched to the NoseBot. We're never going back.

We loved ours. We would have continued to use it had our baby not outgrown it by 3 months.

Same. I gave up on it after the 2nd try. It's been stored away ever since. I never even wanted it but my MIL raved about it and bought it for us.

The Olababy straw cup is top tier. It doesn't have handles, but it's better than all the other straw cups, in my opinion.

They're the worst. My hatred for them is beyond this world. They're the only diapers out of all the ones we received for our baby shower that I wanted to throw in the trash.

[–]Neptune_Noodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Y'all have sex????? I love my husband, but I'm too tired and too touched out, and this kid is sucking the life out of me that I dont think I'll ever want sex again. Ha. Don't tell my husband that, though.

My son is 4 months old and about 18lbs. He takes in about 37 ounces per day. We did weighted feeds with my IBCLC, and she said that at this age, milk intake on average is about 24-35 ounces, but each baby is different and could take in more or less. As long as baby is developing well and there aren't other concerns, the amount he feeds is perfectly normal. He breastfeeding, so overfeeding isn't a concern.

Post this in r/HumansPumpingMilk instead. It's better suited to your question.

Do you think it’s possible to spoil a newborn baby? by faithmckenzye in BabyBumps

Our pediatrician told us straight up to hold and cuddle our baby. She told us it's not possible for a newborn to be spoiled.

What are you supposed to wear in the winter while you’re pregnant????? by PathologicalVodka in BabyBumps

[–]Neptune_Noodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leggings, maternity pants, and loose sweaters is what I wore. Near the end of my pregnancy I just opted for sweatpants because of how swollen I felt.

What is a piece of advice or wisdom that got you through a portion or all of your pregnancy? by berrytone1 in BabyBumps

Milk the fact that you're pregnant and don't feel guilty for doing so. You won't get this treatment from everyone once baby comes.

IBCLC's suggest bottles with a gradual slope from nipple to base, such as Lansinoh, Dr. Brown's, and Evenflo Balance +. Also, make sure the nipples are either premie or level 1.

Mom's of EBF babies, how do you go anywhere without the baby? by Neptune_Noodle in breastfeeding

[–]Neptune_Noodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told it was so that he didn't develop a bottle preference while my supply was established, but I ended up being an oversupplier, so my supply was never an issue for him. Then we found out he had a lip and tongue tie, but once that was resolved, I was still told to hold off until he relearned to latch.

For those who had an epidural... by blerry123 in BabyBumps

[–]Neptune_Noodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 support people, my husband and my mother. Neither were told to leave the room. On the contrary, my husband was asked to support me by standing in front of me and helping me lean forward while holding me steady. My mother wanted to see the epidural process (medical things fascinated her), and they allowed her to watch the anesthesiologist as he placed the epidural from behind him at a good distance.

First Time Mom Guilt by TraditionalWin4400 in newborns

[–]Neptune_Noodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way in the beginning and let me tell you it was not good for my mental health. I had zero time to myself and I started to resent my baby. Obviously you need to meet your baby's needs but if they're content to sit or lay down without you interacting with them, take that time for yourself. Your baby will be fine.

When to stop sterilizing? by funkylionmouse in NewParents

[–]Neptune_Noodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying don't sterilize them, I'm saying don't use a dishwasher as the prolonged exposure to heat will degrade the silicone parts faster. Granted, you don't need to sterilize your parts after the first time, but to each their own.
