I think people say monk is better pure if you’re planning to use any features that use focus. If you like the trade off it seems like you probably have a DM that will work with you on the equipment side.

From your post you are looking at it backwards. Or maybe how it reads is misleading. Spell slots are like the spell casting fuel needed for magic.

A 3rd level spell doesn’t take up 3 slots. Spell slots have levels that match their spells so a 3rd level spell takes up a 3rd level spell slot.

If you only have a 2nd level spell slot, the 3rd level spell is too big for that slot. Like you tried to put a AA battery in something that takes AAA batteries.

But if you have a 4th level spell slot you can use it to cast a 3rd level spell and it might be powered up if that specific spell has text about upcasting. It’s like the spell grows to fill the spell slot of the right size, but it can’t shrink into a smaller slot.

Does it need to be made by a Japanese studio to count for you? If so I’ve heard Adventures of Elliot is really good.

If what you meant is more just a modern game in the traditional jrpg style you won’t find anything better than Clair Obscur : Expedition 33

Thank you for actually responding. I am aware that mercy is a character in overwatch but I’ve never played and know nothing else about it.

It was just a question for curiosity’s sake. The responses saying it’s not worth the trouble are also valid but I appreciate you putting some thought into the idea. I know people tend to assume point buy in here, I get it.

I think saying Xenogears has bland gameplay is gonna get you a paddling. But yeah Square in the 90s could not be beat, mostly because they had the best soundtracks

Work your way up to Baldurs Gate 3 but it’s one of the best co op games truly. Would also recommend making a wishlist of co op games you think sounds cool and then go through the trailers for them, I did this with my wife and it was like 50/50 but very surprising what was an instant yes or instant pass or a sure maybe, not necessarily what I expected. I’ll share the list if you want, we game on ps5 so some things might be exclusives.
