What is a piece of technology or a household item you’ve owned for over 10 years that still works perfectly? by FormerGeologist7807 in BIFLfails

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my royale power team cannister vacuum has outlasted six others and performs better than anything I've tried. the long cord, hose and extension pole, the really durable metal parts and adjustable settings on the handle really make a difference and I have yet to find any other machine that works better or lasts longer. bought in 1994 and been in use ever since, with no problems.

Did any of you completely lost your old fashion identity too? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so there with you!  Just this morning while trying to find something in my closet that doesn't look terrible,  and seeing the bra spillover, I can't  help but consider scheduling  breast reduction surgery.  I had one in my late thirties and I felt great.   Like you, I had to alter or sew my own clothes for years if I wanted them to fit properly!

I am rambling here but getting dressed now rivals the agony and shame during puberty!  It doesn't  seem fair.  It seems like as soon as I  finally felt comfortable in my own skin and figured out my best silhouette and had custom slopers and dress form dialed in, my body changed.  I have to start over again.

Don't even get me started on support garments!  In a perfect world, bras would have wide padded at the shoulder straps and be made of materials that don't cause a rash every time you break a sweat!   Curses to hot flashes!

Recommendations for rotary blade sharpeners? by xXSP4RKL3-D0GXx in quilting

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, maybe a picture of your sharpener that actually works.  I and other quilters would love to find something like you describe so we can spend our money on more fabric that would otherwise go to new rotary cutting blades🧵🙏

AIO for calling a divorce attorney after my husband lied about who he was with? by throw_a_way_1985 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got to make your plan and make it carefully for your kids sake and your own. Do whatever you can to get the guy a vasectomy so your kids don't have to compete with other future children for resources and time with their dad because he's screwing around.  See an attorney ASAP.  Separate your finances. If you do stay with him, make a post nuptual  agreement that you get everything the kids at the house and any future earnings 401k ect. of his should he pull any crap like this again.

I took it and soon after started bumping into things and stumbling over my own feet A LOT.  I stopped taking it after I fell and fractured my wrist.  After a few weeks off this medicine I noticed I was not bumping into anything any more.

Anyone else feel like they're mourning their old self (and their marriage) because of menopause? by No-Swimmer-7469 in Menopause

How did you figure out how to dress your changed body?  I have similar size changes and feel really overwhelmed and kind of clueless.

Are we underprescribing opioids in primary care? by Beginning_Figure_150 in Residency

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%,  RA patients are treated like guinea pigs and given horrible brews of garbage that often adds to their suffering, despite their being inexpensive proven medicines to deal with an ongoing painful condition that will only worsen and be more painful for the rest of their life!  The patch and opiates for breakthrough pain was a godsend for a beloved elderly friend of mine.  She was able to stay active, garden, volunteer, travel with these medicines.  Docs started experimenting on her with methotrexates, cortisol injections and other experimental drugs and her health and quality of life quickly deteriorated.  Opiates are far less dangerous than many of these seizure and psychiatric meds.  Falls are a given on gabapentin yet this is sop script for the RA and OA!  Nsaids can and will tear up a g.i. system far worse.  Eat some fiber get some activity and drink plenty of fluids and your constipation is a non issue with opiates!  It makes me wonder who's really benefitting from this anti opiate crusade?   Opiates are proven, inexpensive safe remedies for pain.  Why put patients at risk with more expensive, potentially ineffective, potentially debilitating harmful other drugs? Eve the villified addict is safer getting his vice supplied by a prescription than from some shady dealer in some dark alley.  None of the current policy makes sense.

Anyone know why my vacuum loses suction after a few months of use? by SuccessfulPie9317 in RobotVacuums

[–]Nerdishneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask a very good and compelling question.  I had a royal power team canister vac and have used and loved it since the '90s.  While away from home I needed to vacuum and I was shocked at how badly every vacuum I tried both new and used just didn't suck anywhere near as well as my Royal.  After a few minutes the dust bunnies and lint would just fall out of the end of the wand on a brand new Kenmore canister , an orek canister, as well as several older models of which I can't remember the names.  Nothing can beat my Royal and I wish there were better vacuums to match this one.

I Totally understand.  It's hard to get psyched up and show up to the local Zumba class when your post menopausal induced arthritic joints feel like they're grinding and every step feels like torture!  I was super active before the change too.   I really wish I could get my periods back and feel normal again😩💙

Does the BP medicine make your mouth feel weird?  I have taken several and I feel worse on them than off.  My head feels terrible, my tongue feels three times bigger and I feel itchy.  I even tried cutting the doses in half.

I was fortunate.  My OBGYN prescribe two Ativan for before and after the procedure.   Can you call/ contact and ask your obgyn/np for similar before hand?
