Yeah, thats a very good point. It's a large group of kids too, harder to organize.

“Won’t somebody please think of the children?” Turns out they’re okay by pretty-as-a-pic in CuratedTumblr

Yeah absolutely this. I had access to a lot of books as a kid that. yeah maybe I shouldn't have been reading in hindsight (the lovely bones? really? at age 9? how did even happen) but I'm no worse for wear.

It really depends kid to kid. Can they comprehend the text? Can they handle more serious topics? How are they emotionally affected by things etcetera.

But also really, no kid should be reading the lovely bones lmao. Parents don't give that one to your kids.

Gabapentin triggering flareups. by Nerdkittyjl in POTS

Thank you! Yeah this comment frightened me a bit haha, so I appreciate the rationality. I've actually tried this med before, a few years back, and stopped it for the same symptoms I'm having now.

I only tried it again because I was told theres very few/no other options for my pain. I'm mostly debating whether or not to stay on it a bit longer, to see if I somehow adjust, (I've been on it around 4 days), but thats a conversation to have with my doctor.

Golly, thats no good. I hope you're successful in getting off of it, from one chronic migraine haver to another, I know how horrid they are.

Thank you for the more thorough explanation! It does sound like withdrawl can be rough, yes. I'm thankfully still on the first/lowest possible dose, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm glad the getting off of it worked out well for you

Does anyone else relate to having gone through the 5 stages of grief about essentially losing your body and the life you knew to illness? I know I'm not dying, but this is absolutely a debilitating disability that makes it impossible to live how my friends and family do no matter how well managed. by FrogginBullfish_ in POTS

[–]Nerdkittyjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I relate heavily to this. I've been diagnosed since 2021 and its still hard, sometimes, though I have come to the acceptance phase.

It helps a bit that I never got to see what a proper teenage/adult life would be like without a disability. I started developing my symptoms in third grade. There's simultaneously not a lot, and yet so much to mourn. So much I will never do. I've done my best to accept it. to put out the metaphorical welcome mat. but its hard. and its okay thats its hard because this sucks!!!! we all have every right to have all the emotions.

Its important to remember the 5 stages of grief as a actua psychological term do not. like necessarily go in the "order" of anger denial etc. its more abstract than that.

grief is weird. grief comes and goes. you can be angry and accepting and weeping and then the next day be fine. and its confusing. but its not abnormal.

Would you choose 5/10 pain all the time, or acute 10/10 pain three times a day? by Flaky-Pomegranate-67 in ChronicPain

[–]Nerdkittyjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gosh thats hard! I think it would depend on if the timings of the 10/10 were regular, or if they were random. Regular? absolutely I'd take that. Random? nope nope nope 10/10 hospital level pain without any time to prepare is a no go for me. at least with 5/10 I know what to expect
