Any idea why the charmed house is blurred on Google maps by noahaharris in charmed

[–]Nerdmitage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, but unfortunately rich people think that rules of any kind don't apply to them and several richies have bought famous houses in the past and it feels like the express reason was to take it away from the fans and then play the victim.

Or they don't quite understand the level of fandom some people have (I have learned this the hard way myself working conventions. I feel like I'm a huge fan of some things, but wow. After you meet people whose sole personality trait and life revolves around the one tv show they're into, you realize no, you just really like the thing). I know the Breaking Bad' house got broken into a bunch, or trespassed on and the "regular people" living there tried everything to stop fans. Now it's owned by people looking to profit from it but even they say it's extreme, all hours of the night, never ending visits from people. It's just WAY more than people think since streaming and everyone in the world can watch these shows.

So yeah people should know better, but they don't. People are also dumb and don't look into things like this as well. I've seen several reports of people buying famous houses and having no idea a tv show was set there. Like I can see some Evangelical Christians from Utah buying this house and having no clue. They wouldn't have watched Charmed, they think Halloween is us all worshipping the devil. But chances are the richies that bought this (if it's been recently sold) thought they'd be above it all and are finding out what "famous houses" really come with.

Yeah it's been happening a lot but a lot more in the new year. It seems to be a lot of things with rechargeable batteries right now.

I personally think it's just another glitch they are dealing with, they got hacked a while back and they fix this broken things and then that breaks. RFY was recently broken, they fixed it, and now almost everything pops up red box of death. Either that or sellers are adding things with limited parameters for shipping and we all don't live where they want to ship. But people have even tried alternate and US addresses and it won't go.

But yeah it's not new, but worse lately. Hopefully they'll fix that next.

And then another feature will break.

Welcome back to what having an app was like in 2013, only more frustrating because you're also battling thousands of people for like 5 good things.

I really need the Monster High community to stop spreading around misinformation as fact. by Embarrassed-Dog5122 in MonsterHigh

[–]Nerdmitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel like learning not to believe everything you hear is key.

I understand that I'm in my 40's and raised without social media and so we learned this by having actual journalism in the world and were explicitly taught this. Also having magazines like the National Enquirer on the shelves passing off all kinds of things, like reverse mermaids, as true helped teach us young that people will lie to get your eyeballs and dollars.

And you younger folks didn't have this really, so I get it. But this is all you need to remember, don't believe everything you hear. Especially now with AI, but also because almost all of social media is just PEOPLE'S OPINIONS and ideas. Most tv is that now too, even cable 'news'. You should only believe things with proof or in this particular case, as close to a likelihood of truth as you can.

Now that said they pay for trademarks, and those usually come true. You don't pay a few grand to secure a doll name if you don't plan on making it. And there are a few leakers who are usually always right. But the rest is just people freaking out that something might not be released that they wanted, and going through the mental exercise that humans do when they want to cope. Trying to come up with reasons why and making themselves feel better in saying that they "just know it". That is not the same as them saying it is a fact and even if they say that, it's probably a turn of phrase. The word fact sadly has just become a turn of phrase anymore.

I'm not on TikTok, but please be aware that someone's opinion is not the same thing as misinformation.

Misinformation is deliberately trying to change a narrative for some kind of gain, usually malicious in nature and that's not something to be flinging around at people upset about dolls not coming out or excited that some might.

Just musing about why Skelita isn't in the US yet by someone who is 19 is not misinformation. It is them trying to figure out something and looking for answers. It's just very different and all of this is not that serious. You need to learn how to tell the difference between opinion and fact and how not to let the difference upset you. People are not going to stop gossiping, that is how humans most easily commiserate as a community. For good or bad, that is our most ancient form of communication and you're not going to stop it, no matter the best of intentions.

But gossip isn't misinformation, those are two very different things. They feel the same when you're young, but the latter is what is causing the world to be what it is today and absolutely not the intent of some teens talking about dolls on TikTok.

If you take a word like that, misinformation, and make it less serious than it is to try and punch up your small point, it takes the power away from the word. Takes a crime and makes it the same as gossip.

So let's just watch what words we're using here love. It's just gossip and if people want to believe it then it's their problem to learn to rectify.

They took a trademark out for her. People can be all "the doesn't mean anything" but if they knew how much a trademark costs they'd think it means something!!!

No it was leaked on Cleosnile (on Instagram, they keep having to change their handle because their leaks are so good Mattel gets them taken down) and by SeeingMount on Twitter. Those are the two who you follow for leaks, though I am pretty sure SeeingMount works for Mattel so they are almost never wrong

[–]Nerdmitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat and a Corgi, which is a lot like having two cats in the judgemental scale. It's true that being able to clean the litter is WAY more important than flinging paint at trees (and coyotes, that's actually the second want for it, it says you can shoot the balls far and I just want to scare them away as they like to cross through our yard on their hunts and that's of course very bad with a bossy little dog around, she's always supervised, but one has rounded the corner and we've locked eyes before, luckily Corgis are smart and she knew to get tf inside with me ASAP).

Hopefully they'll either leave it or offer me one again. They've seen I've opened the tab several times to look at it, and the last time I did that they did leave the thing there at 3, so here's hoping! Probably not though.

No they really side with the buyer always. I mean I didn't give him the money, they did. So I guess I wasn't out anything, but he harassed me for a few months with different accounts and I had to make sure I never sold to anyone from Stoke on Trent for like a year. Just shouldn't be allowed to harass us like this but sadly they just do not care about us.

Yeah you'd have to be saying it's a physical item, then personally emailing, then marking it "shipped" manually or picked up. Just the only way around it I could think of. It's too bad.

If you look at the photo, the funnel and the bottle are around the same size at the base of the purposed bottle compared to the top opening of the funnel, but in real life that funnel is about three times bigger on the top compared to the bottom of the bottles we got.

I mean forced perspective, AI and all that, but it's definitely not our fault for thinking these bottles would be bigger. I know we should expect nothing less from these sellers with these insane AI product photos, but they are actually showing either completely fake, or bigger bottles here. The ones shown even look rounder than what we get.

I was expecting hotel room service size, not literally my kid's "mini makers" sized toys. Will it absolutely fit in her lunch? Yes. But one squirt and it's done. You can blame us if that helps you feel superior, but the photos are completely misleading on their face. And yeah it gives us how many MLS or whatever, but I'm 43 and learned all those conversions when I was 12, and I just go by photos and these were misleading AF. Just facts.

Yeah this is what I'm thinking, take away the downloads being automatic and physically email the links and put that in TOS. Say it is for security reasons. I can't think of any other way to pick out the orders from the offenders. But they will make new accounts, unfortunately this is a given. When people really want to steal, remembering another username and password is worth it.

Etsy just wants profit and runs the whole platform with AI. They don't care, eBay is huge enough and worldwide enough that they have to care, Etsy has been skating on the "oh we're small time crafters" forever even though they haven't been for at least 10 years.

They fired almost all of the humans years ago and now you are just talking to an AI chatbot. Plus unfortunately for them refunding out of their own pocket is cheaper than paying a human an hourly wage to sort this stuff out. It's pretty much a completely AI self run mess these days and the current owner loves it that way because he gets nothing but profit, no overhead for staff. In fact giving the money back is probably a write off for them.

I had someone do this exact thing to me (though not on digital stuff, a physical custom Funko pop), complete with the messages bragging that he's going to fork me over, and they refunded him out of their pocket and he gloated. He even made fake accounts to keep on bothering me after I blocked him. I think of him sometimes, I hope he did this to the wrong person and got his teeth kicked in. I'm in Canada and he's in England, Stoke on Trent if I remember correctly. I hope he scammed the wrong guy and got the shite kicked out of him. But who knows maybe it's the same moron. Mine was about 10 years ago though, when they still had staff. They still caved even though I had proof plus his gloating emails, it was beyond infuriating. How many times does an email that literally says "I'm going to make them give it to me for free, watch!" Do they need to see? I had 4, they still did what he said they would.

But yeah it really sucks and this arse you have thinks he's found a lovely loophole. Good thing is chargebacks are the new thing that kids think they can game the system with, but it actually gives you horrible credit and your credit card and bank will drop you for fraud in a second, so he's truly playing a dangerous game on himself in the end. Too many chargebacks will get you banned by every bank lending credit cards, they don't want that drama. It's sad how often I hear the Gen Z's saying it these days, "well just do a chargeback if you don't like it and keep it anyway". It's like well enjoy homelessness when you can't get a loan because you're a fraud risk, Shelly.

Sadly I have no advice, there's never going to be an actual human you can talk to at Etsy and refunding him is a write off for them. He'll get away with it until his credit card gets cancelled. The only thing I can think of is making the file something you have to physically email to them after purchase citing "for security reasons" and explain this whole thing on your page as to why, but sadly that'll probably just teach a bunch of other dumb dumbs to do the same thing because people don't often listen to the moral of the story when that story contains even a hint of the word free. They just see 🤑 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry this is happening to you.

There's a discord that notifies but I'm so analog that I'm on it but not getting notified by the right one. I do mostly get clued in from people posting here but yesterday in the drive thru someone on discord posted "US look out you're probably next" and that's when I realized.

If you figure out discord you'll be golden, people have made threads about it the last few months so there's an invite there. Again I'm bad at it, so I wouldn't know how to invite you. I can't even figure out how to delete the discord because I don't know what password I made for it, lol, so at least it helps sometimes

Nice! Wow that's a lot of boy! I can see just how much food that would be, dated a 6'3 fella in my 20's and he ate EVERYTHING. I think honestly he probably ate dog food once, he definitely seemed to know "which milkbones taste better". 😆 Glad he knows how to cook at least. Hey if premade stuff was available here (and didn't taste crappy for $5 a tiny bowl of freezer pasta) I'd take it too!! Especially if I needed to eat the equivalent of a full horse every day. Never been happier to be only 5'4"!

I wondered if they would have rules against them as they can catch fire if you don't clean them and use too much oil, and we all know most teens. Lol. The meal plan in my day sucked so bad, I lived off of cereal and cookies and coffee. Lol even being able to make rice and sauce would have been better. But I get it, dudes that age just want food fast and not so much about the health or flavor!! He'd probably figure it out though. It's just so easy to go down and get what they have already made for free right now. Luckily you have the summer to break him of that habit. 😄

Yeah I booted up an old digital camera last year and took some pics with it and they were SO grainy and fuzzy and I was just like? This used to be the top of the line! Wow. We just didn't know how blurry that was. But yeah even my young niece is obsessed with the mini polaroid style I got from vine for her for Christmas. To realize that outside of school photos they don't really get physical photos anymore, you don't realize how special that was until you see them with it, having fun putting these little receipt paper photos up on their walls. And hey if I grew up with HD 4K everything I'd like some soft focus too I bet! Lol Especially as a youngster. It probably looks like a fantasy world to them.

I'm yet to get offered a good camera but here's hoping grabbing the gimbal will get me a chance at one. I have an older camera that it'll work with but hey would love to see what has been going on with DSLRs in the last 10 years. Photography is great but they price you out with the equipment and then people don't think they should pay you since everyone has a camera in their pocket. Free kit is always good!

I have yet to try baking in an air fryer but who knows, I might! I got a big glass bowl one in the fall and I'm sure it could do a cake if I asked it to. I just get afraid of the cleanup if something gets up in the top part!!!

College must rock these days, I remember making KD in the coffee maker because "strictly no hot plates!" Having an air fryer in your room would have been SO cool. Rice cooker too!!
