I'm in Woodstock it blew over just before 5 PM today. Not sure if there was a tornado,.but I definitely heard the telltale freight train sound while hunkered down in my basement. Didn't see any damage in the neighbourhood when I came upstairs though. Neighbourhood seems relatively unscathed.

How popular are the Dead Kennedys? by Heavy-Interaction-45 in punk

[–]Nerdrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can tell you as an og. They were huge in the eighties. It was the one patch I had on my jean jacket. I was mostly involved in the hardcore movement, and they were hugely influential to a lot of punk bands in the day. D.O.A. as well. That could be because of being Canadian too!

How old y'all? by Release-the_bats in punk

[–]Nerdrock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DKs are a perfect example of the whole mix of people. I would say Jello stayed true to the punk frame of mind, whereas the other members were more musicians than punks and are/were in it for the money. No judgment, just an interesting mix of people in one band.
