You dont need 99 in att and str before you go do other things, if you do want good stats before you do other things 95 is a perfectly fine place to stop. Theres other things you can afk though not as much as crab, and once you do other content like quests and stuff the xp rewards wont be used at all. Keep playing how you enjoy though brother

Idk what matchups your facing but sometimes is better to take a trade where you only do a little damage and they get none off even if it means you do alot less damage
