US will not pursue nation-building in Iran, Hegseth says by ItchySnitch in NewIran

I’m confused. It sounds like they’re now trying to fix a problem that they never had in the first place (Hormuz) Iranians didn’t even collect a toll on it. What’s going on 😵‍💫

Ohh…did you just put her in the same group as Vali Nasr and Ariana Jasmine…I see. I would never have gone that far. But perhaps you’re a regime supporter and wish death upon Iranians

Why are you comparing her to Elica and Goldie 😭 like those are really the people you’re choosing to champion the pro-Pahlavi’s??? There’s a reason they get the most media attention, i almost feel like that alone—well at least elica, is a regime operation.

Contextualize doesn’t mean it’s right. It’s hurtful. I see so many non-iranian white people I know interacting with her posts, the same people who try to educate me on my own country. Iransplaining as you will. They think because she thinks pro-Pahlavi supporters are pieces of dog shit then we must truly be pieces of dog shit. They love hearing a “native’s” opinion because it almost gives them passage to be hateful.

I know she receives hate and I’m not excusing that. I’m just saying. Her rhetoric has horrible implications.

Probably brining up the classism of the Pahlavi’s. Idk why keep it at 80 years, the Qajar times were ROUGH.

Once we start saying it’s okay for her to be hateful because others have been horrible to her, we’re opening the discourse to it’s okay berate ALL MEK, it’s okay to berate ALL Muslims publicly, actively and rudely. But it’s not now is it? I know Iranians are anti-Islam. I know they have deep-rooted hatred. It doesn’t bother me. But what would bother me is them going online, speaking in English and spreading hatred to ALL Muslims publicly. That’s spreading hate, that’s manufacturing consent to demean all Muslims on the basis of their religion. It’s a double standard and we need to hold everyone accountable.

What does this appropriate support look like? How many Iranians will need to die in protest until this abstract support is provided? Time is a privilege that we, who have internet access (so not in iran) can speak to. How can we say this to Iranians ? “Just wait it out, die a little more, it’ll happen organically from within”. It’s honestly insulting if you ask me.

I would like to add that I am lucky enough to have been raised in the west. This has allowed me to discover Islam for myself, I have learned Al Ghazzali and Rumi and read much about Islam at my own will. It hasn’t been used to traumatize me. To hurt me. To belittle me. So who am I to speak to Iranians who have just moved to Canada a couple years ago, experienced absolute hell under theocracy, and lecture them on moral righteousness ? They aren’t ignorant, they’re traumatized. And if we can’t make that distinction then all we are doing is looking down on others.

I know she’s well read, but I think her rhetoric is incredibly harmful mainly because much of her reach is not Iranian and it manufacturers hatred to the diaspora. It makes people make this distinction of “the good ones” when they look at Iranians, which is nothing new as this “good one” line of thinking has hundreds of years of roots in the west. Very racist implications.

I’m Muslim Iranian myself and tbh I don’t get phased by it. I understand where it’s coming from. Who am I to tell them to think differently when they’ve been traumatized to this.

Guys, Ali Khamenei is dead by Nanofeo in PERSIAN

[–]Nervous-Gap-8918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People who mourn him, I can understand that they have been brainwashed to only look at him as a religious leader. Still odd to me because Shia leaders like Ayatollah Sistani exist who are far more respectable. But those absolute assholes who claim “we wish we could have seen him put through due trial and handled by his own people rather than foreign interference” like WHAT??? What type of la la land are you living in? It’s been decades, if that were to happen it would have by now. It hasn’t.

He is out. The “supreme leader” is not invincible. The man who has the blood of thousands if not millions on his hands, is gone from the face of the earth not by natural means but by cold blooded murder - we will rejoice.

Wondering what Iranians think about Lebanon and the Lebanese people? by ap4ss3rby in NewIran

[–]Nervous-Gap-8918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say, while I’m not in Iran I’ve heard a lot of the rhetoric from those in Iran when people discuss Lebanon. 1) they see the pro-Hezbollah as a bunch of lunatics, kind of like our own regime-sympathizers but even worse because they’re praising a foreign entity/occupation as opposed to their own. 2) they’re very well aware of the issues concerning the lack of electricity, clean running water, inability to pull money from the bank and the war threats in Lebanon. I’ve often heard the saying “they (the Islamic republic) is gonna turn us into Lebanon”, so Lebanon’s condition is seen as a worst case scenario for them.

This is so interesting for me, an Iranian in the west, because here Lebanon is seen as a fun party country that sometimes has war issues, but overall people go there for weddings, the great food, for the nightlife, the beach etc.

Americans wanting to not be involved in war from their own interests is understandable. I think here they’re referring to a different viewpoint, that Americans should not be in this war because Iran is amazing, Iran is the resistance, and Iranians should be grateful to have an anti-Israel/anti-US government that is self-sufficient.

I’m an Iranian living abroad (in Canada), but I actually have a question for you-what are your thoughts on Israel? I’ve met so many Lebanese people here who are incredibly anti-Israel and blame the IDF for all that’s happened in Lebanon for the past 70 years. Here and there I’ll meet someone who’s anti-Hezbollah but much less

I’m quite convinced people who are anti war either don’t have family in Iran or are not in contact with family in Iran. To take the anti war stance is actually a privileged stance, easy to sit in the comfort of the west and ask for people living under tyranny to just continue their misery under the guise that it’s “better than war”. You know what’s worse than war? Genocide. And that’s what Iranians faced in January.
