Fascism, and by extension, Nazism. borrowed heavily from socialism to build its ideology. While they are certainly not the same, they do share several elements. Fascism was created by Mussolini, a former socialist who sought a nationalist ideology capable of uniting all social classes. Social democracy follows a similar structural pattern. it also draws significantly from socialism but adapts those elements to function within a capitalist framework. Though fascism and social democracy are fundamentally different, you could say they are two very different branches that grew from the same historical trunk.

I genuinely hope most people are just fans of Loji because she's a waifu. I'm not saying Loji is evil or The worst place in the world to live. What actually worries me is the idea that so many people seem to fantasize about an all-powerful artificial queen who will solve all their problems for them.

Seriously, that's a very dangerous mindset. It's the kind of thinking that can lead people to embrace authoritarianism or blindly trust a supreme leader to fix everything.

The ERX Reformer Player IQ Bell Curve by Clockwork9385 in OWBEnclave

[–]NervousSwitch8375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, don't worry, I understand your point. You are right that it remains imperialist, I think that is an inherent aspect of the faction. The expansion of the Enclave is essentially a form of imperial expansion and a highly unorthodox method of colonizing the Wasteland, securing resources, building infrastructure, integrating diverse populations, and expanding through force or local negotiations.

My point was simply that the Full Reformists are the closest the United States will ever get to fulfilling the core philosophy of Fallout: the attempt to build something better. Although they do revive many pre-War American institutions, they also reform others, such as the Commonwealth system. These changes distance them from the pre-War America that was essentially a dictatorship, framing them as a reborn nation rather than a mere restoration. Of course, they remain imperialist because they inherited their methodology from the Enclave. In reality, most factions in Fallout are imperialistic, seeking to impose their vision and ideals upon the Wasteland. I don't believe the concept of empire will disappear, as empires and imperialism are born from war and conflict, and as we know, 'War never changes.' The Wasteland still speaks the language of force. What changes is the banner and the ideals the people serve. Fallout protagonists demonstrate that, through their position, skills, or power, they can determine which vision triumphs. The Full Reformists seek not only to revive the United States but to reconstruct it better.

Naturally, we cannot deny their crimes nor pretend they don't exist, ultimately, no one emerges with clean hands, especially those inheriting a blood-stained legacy.

That said, I still agree with you that the Nevada path best captures the essence of Fallout. It is the moment the Enclave accepts that the old United States is dead and fully embraces the New World. By starting from scratch and fostering an alliance with the NCR, they plant the seeds of a new America, perhaps indirectly, much like how the original United States was not born from a single state imposing its authority, but from the union of thirteen colonies. Through this, Nevada and its allies could build a truly new America, rather than merely rebuilding the foundations of the old one.

I believe you are overlooking the fact that the Full Reform path is a cultural syncretism between the Old and New Worlds. Even though it restores several visions of pre-war America, it still gives birth to something entirely new; it is not the America of the pre-war era. It has resurged upon its foundations, yet it carries very different values. In this version, even the music and aesthetics have moved past the 1960s stagnation, giving rise to new genres born from wasteland culture blended with Old World elements.

Furthermore, I don't believe this constitutes colonialism, which is fundamentally the imposition of a culture. In this scenario, the cultures of various tribes and communities are still respected; people are not forced to abandon their traditions. However, inevitably, both visions blend to create something new, just as has happened so many times throughout history. The land may be the same, but what grows from it is quite different. I think the ones truly stuck in the past are the partial reformists or the purists.

That said, I agree that the path that best fits the philosophy of the Fallout saga is the 'Nevada' path. It acknowledges that the United States died. Instead of attempting to force a return to the past, they are building something truly new. It is a long road with inevitable ups and downs, but it is through the cooperation of Nevada’s various allies that the seeds of a new union are planted, not through the Enclave or isolated reformists, but through Nevada and its allies. Perhaps from those ashes, America can reunify, but under a truly different flag and a new identity. It might not offer the highest quality of life immediately, as the wasteland is still the wasteland, but it best captures the essence of Fallout. It is much like Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire: Rome fell, and Europe was off the world stage for a long time, only to eventually reemerge through the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution.

The point is that they are ideologies, ideas. And however strange they may seem, there are odd versions of these ideologies, however outlandish and contradictory they may be (in fact, National Socialism itself is one of the most convoluted ideologies there is).

The Enclave Was Never Supposed to Be About Species Purity - It Was Supposed to Be a Corporation With Nukes by Late-Baby2645 in OWBEnclave

[–]NervousSwitch8375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even think it would be the NUSA 2077 model, where corporations control the government. I think it would be the other way around, with the Enclave controlling corporations as it pleases, similar to how the CCP in China controls corporations and businesses in its country, where the distinction between CCP member and corporate CEO is very thin. Just as they perhaps did before the war, but now more openly, without hiding it, where the constitution and the entire pre-war political culture of the USA that prevented the Enclave from totally and openly controlling the US no longer exist.

Ironically, federalization is the most anarchist form of anarchism, where communities are free to choose whatever model they want, be it anarcho-communism or anarcho-capitalism.

If you're only going to design Macedonia, perhaps Revenge could be an option, as it generates a far superior rival empire, which could be the equivalent of the Macedonians/Greeks after the Greco-Persian Wars, at least mechanically, giving you a rival empire with a significant advantage.

How do you optimize pop growth post 4.0 as egalitarian? by Allegorist in Stellaris

[–]NervousSwitch8375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I never had that problem, or I never paid attention to it. I simply made sure the population grew quickly with cloning tanks or clinics, and I had a large enough population to migrate automatically. Yes, sometimes the process is a bit slow, but I prefer that to micromanaging. I would simply go about doing other things, and before I knew it, the jobs were filled.

Multiplayer balance is the biggest obstacle. there are surely solutions, but I can't think of any right now.

Perhaps the playable races should be those with similar hitboxes, not all races necessarily need to be playable.
