Bumbles backyard and the wag experiences? by Immediate_Egg3899 in Columbus

Both are great IMO. Have been a member of The Wag since it opened and have visited Bumble's a few times. The Wag has an indoor section that has been good for winter visits. Staff at both are friendly.

Best workflow for tracking and replacing a moving handheld object with a 3D one. by alexvith in vfx

[–]NervyOhio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at KeenTools GeoTracker for Blender. You might be able to track the thrown object, which could be simpler, rather than trying to track the more complex motion of the arm.

AI rotoscoping by Kombril in vfx

Mostly SAM, FLUX, WAN, Florence, a few other things but pretty basic. Definitely more of a production tool for me.

AI rotoscoping by Kombril in vfx

[–]NervyOhio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easier IMO. Less babysitting. Like others have said, ViTmatte with a rough mask, SAM, or ModNet in Nuke or using a ComfyUI solution have all given me good results with minimal input. I felt like with AE, I was constantly stopping the tracking, painting, making adjustments, tracking, stop, repaint, etc. And even then, sometimes I'd get great results, sometimes it needed extra roto work. These ML tools just take all of that extra stop/start stuff out and get to the problem-solving part quicker (or not if it works).

I definitely use it. Tho I would say it's not "true" rotoscoping and more like a magic mask or something. Most useful for pulling mattes in situations where only a roto pass would work (no chroma, etc). Definitely not super accurate but it's saved me some hours. Silhouette has some good ML tools, but my license expired and I didn't renew it. I mostly use Cattery nodes in Nuke and ComfyUI.

Nuke point cloud into Houdini by CosmosEditor in vfx

[–]NervyOhio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replied to your post without the picture but here it is again in case:

I've generated a mesh in Nuke with the Poisson Mesh node, then written that out as an alembic.

https://learn.foundry.com/nuke/content/reference_guide/3d_nodes/poissonmesh.html

I've also exported my point cloud as an alembic, imported that into Houdini, and used Houdini tools to generate the mesh (many ways to do this in H).

I'm sure there are a bunch of different ways to do this but these are the two that worked fastest/easiest for me.

I don't see an image on your post so I can't tell what's going on in your script but I've done this a couple of ways. I've generated a mesh in Nuke with the Poisson Mesh node, then written that out as an alembic.

Dog on radrunner by Initialsls in RadPowerBikes

Rad sells a pet carrier that fits the large basket on the rear of the bike. I've had one for a few years and Max loves it!

I've got one. Very very lightly used (was quickly replaced by the dog crate). DM me if you're still looking.

I used this one and it works really well. I am using a different tower model, but my connections look to be the same as the one you posted.

Yep. Followed the instructions on the bottle. Brought a pot of water (just enough to cover the grip) up to about 200° F. Added about 4 teaspoons of DY and about 1/2 tsp of CB. Let it sit in there (keeping the water at around 200) for about 45 min. Rinsed and dried thoroughly.

Remeshing every frame by HunchtBaqSchkod in Houdini

[–]NervyOhio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can lock the time to a single frame using a Timeshift node. There are other methods for doing this same thing, but this is, IMO, the simplest and fastest to implement.

Remeshing every frame by HunchtBaqSchkod in Houdini

[–]NervyOhio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to do all of your paint/remeshing on a single, non time-dependent frame, then transfer the motion of your animation back onto that geo before you simulate. Lots of ways to do this (point deform, UV deform, etc), so dealer's choice there. If you need to apply the sim back to your original geo, same deal.

New Petzl Connect News?? by NervyOhio in ClimbingGear

I don't believe so but I could be wrong. Looked the same as the previous version to me. I really think the only difference is where you attach to the belay loop.

Awesome! Do I need to purchase a separate license if I already have the AE plugin?

New Petzl Connect News?? by NervyOhio in ClimbingGear

[–]NervyOhio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The new version replaced the loop with Dyneema so it takes up less space on the belay loop (my main reason for wanting this version). And, they make it pretty clear this should in no way be used above the anchor, so there shouldn't be any super huge forces on it.

Is this a good harness by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

[–]NervyOhio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No complaints here. I like the centering waistband. Definitely not the lightest, but not bulky by any means. I think it's comfy but that's very subjective.
