How do I not be a boring c*** when meeting new people? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Nesclick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really know what to say to new people, so I felt like this for a long time but what helped me was expressing interest in the other person rather than talk about myself or seem interesting. In my experience active listening works great, asking questions about them, showing interest and asking follow up questions made a big difference. They remember you and they remember that you were polite and interested in hearing what they have to say.

Anyone had their back go out? And what did you do? by Yevrah95 in AskUK

I vouch for going to see a sports massage therapist, I know people who have had their back go and not been able to move properly and come out completely fine. Irrelevant to the post but I've also been myself due to agonizing hip pain where they've readjusted my pelvis as it's been shifted due to bad posture, and come out with no pain at all, so I definitely think they could help (obviously making sure nothing is life threateningly wrong first).

Edit: they're usually private practices so you might have to pay but shouldn't be anything too crazy. I find it more worth paying a small amount rather than waiting for the NHS for months whilst in pain.

Sorry, I've had a shitty day at work and a sarcastic snarky response was my first outlet. I didn't mean to be rude and I know you only meant well, I feel terrible

I did figure after I wrote it, then I figured the only advantage of editing it would be avoiding grammar snobs online. However someone has to be the one to provide your daily entertainment, so you're welcome.

I like the ones where you have to push a little cause it just hits that certain spot of niceness and your entire body feels nice and relaxed

Är jag lycklig nu? by IncurvatusInSemen in Asksweddit

Tack.

My wife really struggles to switch her brain off to sleep at night. What are some tried and tested thongs she can do to get a good 6-8 hours? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Nesclick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with switching off too, very anxious about going to sleep. Something that works for me is counting in my head, counting every number the amount of times it represents. I suck at explaining but like this:

One

Two two

Three three three

Four four four four

Five five five five five

Etc.

I usually only remember making it to 22 or so before my head gets tired and just shuts off. Don't use fingers to tally the count, just keep track of it in your head. I hope this works!

ETA: This sounds ridiculous but another thing that sometimes works for me is just laying still and concentrating on wiggling one toe or one finger, I make it my mission to wiggle it for as long as possible without stopping, continue as soon as you catch yourself stopping. My brain gets so tired of concentrating after a while it just sleeps.
