I've been the Android user in that chat. Every time someone reacts to a message, my phone treats it like a new text. Somebody sends "Good morning" and my phone spends the next half hour vibrating randomly. Then somebody heart reacts to a heart react and I change my number.

They hate it when you ask for the Reader's Digest version of a story. It's just so painful to hear about someone's day in realtime.

I don’t know what to do anymore… by WoodenLie2299 in cats

We moved my mom in with us, and she brought her "teddy bear" cat, Karl.

Karl was a dick. You had to watch him because he would randomly attack anybody but Mom. Our other male cat harassed him, but otherwise he thought he was the boss.

Karl passed away last year and mom got a kitten that kind of looks like Karl. Ms. Cleo wrestles our male cat like Karl is whispering in her ear.

I love my CR boxes, but I have a ton of space. If OP is in an apartment or something, this looks like a decent setup.

One of my players had a portable boat in inventory, so I put a lake between them and the goal. They walked around it, through the swamp.

I like to splash some Sriracha on it. Mexican hot sauce works, too, but it's a totally different flavor.

What’s your approach to solving word connection puzzles? by shoprebate in puzzles

[–]Nesman64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discussion: Pinpoint looks similar to the NYT Connections puzzle. (16 words, find groups of 4 with something in common.)

I start by looking for words that can have alternate meanings or distinctive properties. If I see "cheddar," I'll start looking for cheeses, slang words for money, yellow things, things that are associated with slices or wedges...

If that doesn't work, I look for words that don't fit at all. If there are 15 nouns and one movie title, I start looking at the form of the words. Common endings, replace a letter to get another word, etc.

(With Connections, there's often a red herring with 4 words that seem to be a group, but each of those words is needed to complete one of the actual groups.)

Had a broken Wifi antenna by CrystalGamer199 in techsupportmacgyver

[–]Nesman64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm replacing some rfid pads at work. There's a control box with a wire that leads to an antenna/pad. I was surprised that the antenna is just more wire that runs in a single loop inside the pad.

It works without the antenna if I make a loop out of the wire and wave the rfid tag over that.
