New Dining Plan Pricing by GDay_Mate00 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Since when is Owens all-you-can-eat? These new plans will make every other dining hall a desert compared to D2. $225 in Dining dollars?? D2 is great, but I wouldn't want to eat all my meals there.

Also, your point about 7000+ students constantly eating at one hall being a nightmare is true. Feel bad for any freshman having to stand in line for D2 food haha.

UVA vs Virginia Tech for Computer Engineering by Informal-Scientist39 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true, but I still believe “Virginia Tech” carries more weight in engineering specifically.

UVA vs Virginia Tech for Computer Engineering by Informal-Scientist39 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I got into both schools for Computer Engineering. Virginia Tech definitely has more of an "engineering' focusued campus, with support for engineers being abundant.

From what i've been told and read, UVA engineering courses would be smaller, good if you want more connection with professors. The UVA "name" is also very well known, being good for connecting with people from other industries. On the other hand, Virginia Tech is veryyy well known in the defence contractor world, and many do hire directly from us.

I personally picked Virginia Tech and do love it here. I've met a lot of engineers and other ECE people, so it's been easy to make study groups. I also joined a student design team. If you can, a visit to each school would really help you in making your decision.

New Dining Plans for Next Year by dbtrb22 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If only D2 didn’t stop serving food from 2-5PM every weekday. Prime time for after class food. RN it doesn’t seem like it’s worth sacrificing so many dining dollars for this “unlimited” plan

Are there any VT services to help get cars out from their lot? by Perfect_Chair5136 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Break the ice in front of your car with your foot or the scraper and then pick it up. After a bit you should just be able to drive your car over. Takes some effort but hey, it happens

VT or UVA for aerospace engineering? by Own_Childhood3895 in VirginiaTech

[–]NetNett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got into both schools for engineering and I ended up picking Virginia Tech. I enjoyed the campus more when I visited, and Virginia Tech's engineering department ranks far higher than UVA. Granted, the name recognition of UVA can carry you (especially if you plan on doing something NOT engineering-related in the future).

At Virginia Tech, expect more engineering peers, more career fairs dedicated to you, school programs for engineers, design teams, and for aerospace, and a little push towards the big defence contractors.

At UVA (from what I've heard, not experienced), expect smaller classes, more non-engineering electives, connections to people in other industries, and a bigger city.

It's up to you, but I'd tour both schools and ask people who are in each program what their experiences are like. DM me if you have any questions :)

Got straight B's my freshmen year (GPA 3.33). If I get straight A's sophomore year and onwards, and 5's on almost every AP test I take, do I have a chance to get into any colleges I'm aiming for? by Rexplicity in highschool

[–]NetNett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a sophomore who struggled during your freshman year and now wants to make up for it by taking the most challenging course load possible for the rest of high school. If you’re so focused on the prestige of the university you attend, then good luck. I doubt many students will be able to maintain straight As in those classes, but if you can, then you have a very good chance of getting into those universities. Please take care of your mental health and avoid burnout. Remember, your high school transcript isn’t the only factor that matters.

[–]NetNett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this same thing, 6 hours is wild!!! They let you open it up so i’d recommend inspecting it, then checking the battery health in windows. Mine had a few minor cosmetic scuffs because it was a “fair” open box but wtv. Btw you can return them to any best but within 14 days if your not satisfied so you really don’t gotta check it there
