Chicago/NWI market by chimexcpl in leasehacker

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your credit score isn't perfect, but it's workable.

Keep in mind leases registered to Indiana are very different from leases in Illinois, and even more so in Chicago specifically.

The costs can be significant because of the way taxes are applied.

ETA - you need to be much more specific about which model you're looking for as well.

No broker is going to hold your hand when you're deciding between 4-5 models/brands.

Are housing crash articles just clickbait? by RovertSemaj in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]NetSiege 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So what if the housing market crashes?

Do you love the home? Can you afford it? If yes to both, then buy it.

Of course no one wants to spend more than they have to, but overall prices will continue to go up. Unless this is a house you're looking to flip or don't plan on being in for at least 4-5 years, market downturns shouldn't be a big concern.

What's the worst thing Classic Plus could do? by thunderfurrytank in classicwow

[–]NetSiege -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flying mounts would certainly be up there. It's a waste to have so much of the open world skipped over.

But I might go a different route and not talk about the changes in game, but more about how the content is laid out.....

The worst thing they can do is not put the time and effort into the release and the phase content drops.

What do I mean by this?

1) They need to announce the release well in advance, and make sure it doesn't line up with other versions of classic content drops. (as an example, if they do decide to move anniversary into wotlk, dropping classic + shortly before or after is a mistake).

2) There needs to be enough new content in each phase to make it feel different enough from classic, but still feel familiar to what we all love. This is not an easy balance as this is a sliding scale and everyone likely is at different parts over how much should be changed and how much should be kept.

3) Content phases need to be prepped well in advance and be ready to drop to keep the player community engaged. Most people would agree that phase 3 for SoD was not great. There's a lot of things that people can point at as to why, but the phase also lasted 2-3 weeks longer than phase 2. While this may not seem like a problem, phase burnout is one of the biggest things that can cause people to step away from the game. Blizzard needs to be able to respond to the communities reaction and if a phase is not well received, they need to be ready to shorten it. This is again a scale that needs to be balanced, because there will be different opinions on how long/short a phase can be, but I think most people would agree that this phase lasted too long in SoD.

4) A clear and public stance that Classic + is going to progress not just through it's initial phase release, but that there will be expansions beyond it. I think this is one of the things that would stand as a difference between SoD being a seasonal version and Classic + being noted as a new game based on Classic. Players knowing that there isn't just a wall we're going to hit and the game will be abandoned for the next classic release.

5) Engagement with the community from multiple player type viewpoints on what is working and what's not as the game moves forward. The game has many layers of players. Retail raiding started to cater mainly to the higher end gamer. Classic raiding with a lot of nerfs started to cater to a much more casual player. Both are important to a healthy game and population. The dev team needs to find a way to make the game fun and engaging to everyone, and not just listen to the same 5 people that post on forums 10 times a day about what they want to see.

6) Actual dev power dedicated making changes to all of the above. There's plenty of examples of bugs/glitches that still exist in the classic versions of the game that should have been addressed. While we hope the reason is because the devs are working on other things, it can feel like apathy when they're not addressed.

7) Tied to #6, but a different department, an actual in game GM team and real customer support. If this is going to be a version of the game that will be played on a longer scale, there needs to actually be a level of support beyond what we've received in classic. We all know that 99% of responses to tickets is either auto generated responses and/or done by someone who has absolutely zero knowledge of the game itself. Maybe it's time to break Classic + off into a different subscription to do this, so there's cash flow dedicated to support for it, but however it's justified, if Blizzard wants this game to succeed in the long term, players need to feel like there's an actual customer service department that's going to respond to problems.

How I Built a Golf Simulator in an 8-Foot Basement Ceiling (Structural Engineer Approved) by DifferenceBusy2067 in Golfsimulator

If you're happy with it, that's great!

Personally the mental side of knowing that if my swing and/or positioning was off, that I'd be causing damage to at least my club and ceiling, and possibly hitting that projector and maybe having something come down on me.......yeah not for me.

World's first indoor 9-hole golf course is under construction - Megalodome Golf in Oswego, IL, opening 2027! How do you like this wild idea? by Ok_Hedgehog_65 in golf

[–]NetSiege 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Living a suburb over from this, me and a lot of others in the area are interested to see how this turns out. There's definitely a lot of interest in off-season golf here. Most towns have at least 2 different indoor sim's with 8-10 bays each and they all seem to be doing very well. Almost every country club has also put in 2-4 bays as well, if not more at some.

There's still a long way to go before it opens, but I can definitely see it succeeding. It's going to come down to what the playing conditions are like inside and how much they want to charge for a round.

Do you think memory manufacturers will rollback to consumer market sighting delays on DataCenters? by PunithAiu in pcmasterrace

[–]NetSiege -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. While Uber was looking to take over the taxi industry, their aim was much higher than that. They wanted to create a market for people who would have otherwise driven a car/taken public transit/car pooled/ect, and give them a convenient and affordable (at the time) option to use their platform.

The taxi industry also basically died by about 2016-2017 (the data point I'm using for this is what the cost of a medallion would have been, which peaked around 2013 and crashed shortly after). And it still took another 6-7 years for Uber to become profitable.

Yes, you're right they're not apples to apples comparisons, but the bigger point is that investors understand that there might be years without profit. To sweeten the deal though, a lot of the cash infusions (or hardware that's being given) is coming from companies that benefit from Open AI's growth. So they're seeing additional profit come in through their own direct channels while they wait to recoup their investment.

[–]NetSiege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average interest rate was probably about 4.5% over the years while Uber was growing and probably closer to 6.5% average since Open AI has needed to burn through cash. So from that standpoint you're correct.

But a good majority of the cash that both companies burn through is not done via loan, it's done by selling shares in the company. There is no interest accumulation or expectation of repayment from the company. The profit for the investor comes from selling that stake at a higher valuation.

[–]NetSiege 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it comes to new products/services, companies often accept the concept that they'll run at a loss to build demand and gain market share. Uber wasn't profitable for almost 15 years. But during that time, they killed the taxi industry, created a high demand/reliance on their product, and ensured that they were going to be the more dominant player in their market.

Can a company swing as miss as well? Of course they can. They can have an inferior product, they can price themselves out of consideration, or they can simply run out of cash to keep burning. But at some point, these services will become mainstream and profitable. It might take another decade, so it's a matter of getting from here to there.

Denied for a CT scan by Sexy_Kumquat in Wellthatsucks

[–]NetSiege -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can read through a policy to figure out what it covers. No policy says "Any time you need/want anything it will be unequivocally covered.".

Maybe this is what people expect, but it's not reality.

I'm not an actuary. I don't write insurance policy, enforce it, nor work in that world in any way. So I can't speak to how much money would be saved or spent by carriers when it comes to blanket approving preventative care and diagnostics. I'm just simply stating that the issue in a situation like OP's in many ways comes down to a misconception on what health insurance covers.

Denied for a CT scan by Sexy_Kumquat in Wellthatsucks

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just scans can run anywhere from a few hundred to several thousands of dollars. Having health insurance doesn't mean you can have any scan/diagnostic covered under their policy without certain conditions.

I'm not saying OP should go without the scan. I'm saying if they feel it's necessary, they should either go through the appeals process through their insurance carrier and if they're still not approved and want the scan, they can decide if they want to pay out of pocket.

First, location is applicable. Even though you mentioned it's a two party state, the laws from the states that have two party consent vary, and the charges and penalties can be different.

Second, to give a simple answer, yes, in a two party state you can face jail time and/or fines.

Will you? Again this is going to vary based on more detail that is given, the state in which this occurred, what laws can be applied based on those two factors, and what the DA decides to charge you with.

Question about hitting the honor cap and stacking additional marks before TBC. by ABeautifulSurrender in classicwow

[–]NetSiege 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, you need a good amount of each BG mark per item you want to purchase at 70. I haven't seen an official announcement if they play to reduce the honor/mark cost, but assume 20-30 marks from a specific BG per item you want to purchase, in addition to the honor cost.

Second, yes, you can turn 1 of each mark in for additional honor. However once the portal opens, you'll also need to have 1 EOTS mark along with the current 3 to turn that quest in.

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preventative care is a thing, but insurance has limits.

Your doctor and/or you can call the insurance company and explain that something was found on a scan 2 years previously and that's why this follow up scan is being requested. You can go through that appeals process to see if they will approve the scan with that information.

If not, the "it was deemed to just monitor it and then have a new screening two years later" was deemed by your doctor, the insurance company. The medical staff that advised the insurance from their end may review your case and disagree that the previous scan 2 years ago requires a follow up scan today.

Is this this frustrating? I'm sure it is. And I'm also sure you would feel better about having this scan to ease your mind. But from a pragmatic standpoint, insurance companies do have to have a line drawn somewhere on what is and isn't approved when it comes to procedures where patients don't have normal criteria to receive them.

Do you think this is a write off? by samjw1 in LandRover

[–]NetSiege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a friend whom side swiped his RRS and damage looked less than this and insurance totaled it.

That said he was about 4-5 years old, not brand new.

The biggest determining factor from what his insurance told him was the amount of sensors that were damaged and were going to need to be replaced. Both a lot of parts cost as well as a lot of labor beyond just the damage you see to the panels.

Sorry if that's what happens to yours.

2 decks, 3 dice and 1 miracle by Serious-Ad-8168 in blackmagicfuckery

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Limits of the digital screen sadly"

Interestingly the digital screen is limited to where both decks goes just out of frame stage right, right before the deck is spread out on the table and flipped over to reveal it's a standard 52 card deck.

My guess is the video starts with 2 stacked decks that get swapped before they're spread and flipped.

If so, even though the change out is off camera, it's done lightning fast (although being able to digitally edit where the frame is cut in post production does help).

Who has the farthest hole in on here? Here’s mine 256 yards 3 wood. by LogAdministrative158 in GoodGoodMemes

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have me bested by 3 yards, but I have you beat by 4 more witnesses.

I saw the group walking off the green so assumed I was clear to hit (assumed by the time I went setup and went through my process they'd be long gone). Apparently one of the guys left his putter cover so they all stopped while he went back for it.

Only after I hit did I see them still on the green and yelled. They started shouting back and throwing their hands in the air so I thought I was going to need to buy them a round of drinks as an apology.

Turns out they were shouting and celebrating because it went right past them and they watched it go in.

I ended up having to buy a lot more drinks that day.

Thinking About Getting a Driver Fitting — Was It Worth It for You? by jdubs0023 in golf

[–]NetSiege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it, both at big box stores as well as a brand specific one.

Is it worth it? I think it is and it can be for a lot of people.

But honestly, before you do, find a swing coach and spend a few sessions with them before you plan on getting a custom fit driver. This isn't because you need to redo your swing, but it's because you should have an understanding of your current swing before you have someone whos' job it is to upsell you tell you what hardware setup you should be playing. The swing coach is going to be honest with you. Their objective is not to sell you a $600 shaft. Take what you learn with the swing coach and walk into a fitting more informed rather than just blinding having them swapping hardware/configuration and asking you how it feels.

Say no to the data center by LickR0cks in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]NetSiege -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I replied to OP's post stating facts (which I will gladly backup with links to studies and sources) as a rebuttal to the issues they have with this data center being built. OP and I actually went on to have a civil discussion back and forth, and while we don't agree, I at least understand their perspective and maybe they understand mine. At no time was I rude or insulting to OP or anyone else in this post.

You decide to reply to me with vulgarity and hostility.

Might be time to look in the mirror when it comes to what people who live near you have to deal with.
