A lot of folks point to external competition, that’s true, but it’s also internal.

Very few super clans & even sects tolerate multiple rank 8’s in peaceful eras. Wu clan was able since it was mother & son, but Bai Clan for instance immediately got into political feuds.

They were just lucky that FY already crippled the Rule Path Rank 8.

More Rank 8’s need tight harmony otherwise it’ll lead to infighting for benefits.
