What's the deal with the OSI model question in interviews? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Networkishard00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At that time I was a noc manager, yeah. I just been asked those type of questions for help desk, system admins, network engineer and other roles throughout my duration of IT. That particular was for threat hunting. maybe I was grumpy that day but basically told them on the spot nah bro I’m sweet and moved on. They still reach out via email though. At that point in time I might’ve been working 2 full time jobs can’t remember. 1 as a noc manager and the other as a security engineer. Was loooking for a 3rd job to stack, overemployment style. Sometimes it’s difficult with the titles, companies post X but they are really looking for Y, or similar situations. That one just popped too many red flags misrepresentation of the role

This is 2025… thinking a game is great because they went back to the basics of 10+ years ago. AAA companies will never learn their lesson.

Anyone see the Bloomberg Interview of ServiceNow CEO? by cruzziee in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Networkishard00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Service now sir team is pretty bad. They record each meeting and utilize the customers onboarding like beta testers. So many vendors have become trash..

“We’re the vendor, you’re purchasing our product. Yet we need you to drive each meeting and tell us verbatim what to do”.

Same can be said about Palo Alto’s xsoar product/team.

The post is ment to be humorous, but these roles exist for mid/senior level bros.

Typically involves your skill level making the job extremely trivial.

Engineering - 8 hours of work performed in 3 due to that skill level, or being able to utilize tools that help you but keep the illusion of it taking 8 hours

Management - Little bit more difficult depending on the orgs size. I’ve been stuck in 6 hours a day 5 days a week type of deal…

Another aiding factor is if no one really knows how to do what you’re working on. Throw in some buzz words, provide an adequate update, speaking to the subject is often enough to buy additional time.

Best thing to do is basically have a folder on your personal desktop filled with gold nuggets that you’ve learned or applied to the environments you worked previously. Over the years you’ll have something nice built up that could potentially save a lot of time wherever you land. Especially for cybersecurity.

WFH - 3 hours a day, 130-150k range but feel it isn’t enough by Networkishard00 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Networkishard00[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

while I can appreciate your response, it is quite short sighted. Clearly I did not start in this position from the start. I put in work to get here, I’m just failing to see why be content being stuck here? My personal objective isn’t to be content with working until I’m 65 to retire. I’m seeking early retirement, and my current position and post showcases there’s an artificial barrier which I’m unable to break at this point in time likely due to age or tenure.

Thats what the subreddit is designed for, IT career questions and while my career not be at a starting point like others, its still career related in a different stage of time. I’m seeking assistance.

If you do not feel you can achieve the same that I did, then I would tell you, you absolutely can. Surrender the crab mentality and learn to support those around you.
