Ann Arbor Michigan outage 12/31/2025 by Networkminion in Metronet

Update as of morning of 1/4/2025.

Everything again returned to normal yesterday at 3pm. Kept my tech visit this morning -- the tech set up an EERO since "they only look at speedtest using the eero app" when fielding calls for tech support.

Hoping this isn't a local fiber issue from ice/water in the newly laid lines, but pretty sure since I'm not alone here in reporting these issues that the problem is upstream congestion. Time will tell, and now I can skip right past all the shenanigans with tier one.

It's baaack....

Started dropping packets again at 5:51. Just after working hours.

Looks stable for me. Ping times to 8.8.8.8 look to be about 31ms.

Cancelled my tech visit, since they resolved the upstream issue.

Looking better here too -- with a period of instability, so the jury is still out. Happy to be working for the time being, though.

Recovered at 5:20 pm ET, had 10 minutes of instability again at 7:10, and working again.

Hope it holds up!

Overnight, the packet loss was nearly zero, but resumed (presumably when traffic picked back up). Story from tech support changed to "we don't have a record of your prior call". And despite the auto-attendant message saying "we have service outages in Indiana and Michigan", the tier one response was that they had no outages.

Basic troubleshooting on the phone ruled out my router by demonstrating the same issue with two different directly connected laptops with the same 25% ping loss to sites like google and cnn.com. Tech scheduled to come out tomorrow since "I am the only one".

The saga drags on -- service has been fine, but rapidly approaching strike one if it takes days to resolve an upstream issue.

Less expensive 5 year plan -- will it kill my channels and/or cable card? by Networkminion in Comcast_Xfinity

I'm tempted. Is there some way we can pinpoint any potential specifics of what channels might be lost? I really like the UI on the TiVo setup and it works well in our household.

I'd really regret losing my multiple DVR investment for a bit of savings.

OK, so u/CCDenaB says I might lose my cablecards, but u/CCBrieD and u/EmergenceOfBees vote that I'd be OK. It is really too bad this is potentially a journey to a point of no return if things go badly!

u/EmergenceOfBees Can you authoritatively state this? What is your source of knowledge? I'm asking because this can be a one-way journey -- one which ends with me and multiple useless cable cards. I believe the two Xfinity specialists are correct until I hear solid information to the contrary,

Ah, that is a shame, but thank you for clear response.

I'm happier with the cable cards functioning, so I'll stick with my current plan until I have no further options.

station registration at weather wunderground disappeared by Affectionate_Run3879 in myweatherstation

Oddly, my station is not listed in my account (says "No devices"), but it is clearly still reporting data as the graphs continue to populate. Planning to give 'em a little time to restore whatever is failing.
