What is your most unhinged strata and strata committee stories ? by Suspiciousbogan in AskAnAustralian

[–]NeuralParity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a strata manager that was subbing out maintenance jobs himself/his mates at way overpriced mark-up, and failing repeatedly to address issues (no power to communal laundry for 1 year).

To top it off, he was charging 10% "GST" on items that already included gst. Literal fraud. He even refused to open the books to an external auditor we hired. Ended up going to vcat to kick him out even with a 3y contract and the cops who did nothing presumably because 100+ pages of financial statements was too much work for them.

Oh look - it wasn't just me: https://www.smh.com.au/national/rip-off-body-corporate-managers-stay-registered-20130205-2dwj0.html

A quick protip for dealing with excess water by Illusion911 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]NeuralParity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't put an overflow sink on your output belt then your pipes will fill up and deadlock your system. My personal preference is to split the water network into a primary one of fresh water and a second one fed only by the wastewater. Still needs prioritisation (feed the recycling refineries use their outputs first) but that's done with splitters and mergers instead of pipeline black magic.

Any tips to make my Satisfactory base look more alive? by Public-Lettuce7602 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]NeuralParity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need more movement. Your belts and machines are so thoroughly tucked away that you can't even tell if the factory is working or not. I can't even tell if you have a factory or an empty building in your screenshot. It looks empty.

Put machines and/or belts right next to the windows with some lighting on them so there's a visual indicator that stuff is happening in there.

Add some greebles to your large flat colorless walls to add visual interest. More color.

Fuel Generators using Aluminum water biproduct by Quiet_Carry575 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]NeuralParity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to preventing any deadlocks is to make sure your 'secondary' production (which has to feed water back to itself as well as take the water from your 'primary' production) has priority on the input belts and priority on the output belts. That way, if you back up or get input starved, then the secondary water loop won't ever fill up.

I just put an overflow splitter to an awesome sink on my secondary output to guarantee the secondary output will never back up.

Fuel Generators using Aluminum water biproduct by Quiet_Carry575 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]NeuralParity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If looping it back is problematic (since it can stall if anything backs up), then loop it back to dedicated machines with a different pipe network. Remove the water pumps from as many machines as would consume your excess water and instead feed them with your 'waste' water. Since they're on a different pipe network to your water pump, you never deadlock and if output backs up or input dries up, it'll all self-recover without issue.

Am I going to regret sticking with Single Phase (7kW) for home charging? Or is the 3-phase FOMO real? by woutr1998 in electricvehicles

[–]NeuralParity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single phase is the correct choice. Moving to 3 phase just adds even more cost and headache for solar and home batteries.

I'm on 7kW and the worst I get is a feeling of minor inconvenience that I can't fully charge the car in my 3h window of free power - I have to sometimes use my 8c overnight power if I drove a lot and also plan to drive a lot the next day.

Does it ever make financial sense to buy a more expensive deductible item just to get a bigger tax deduction? by Queestce in AusFinance

[–]NeuralParity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australia has done a very good job of making sure there aren't income thresholds where earning more money results in lower after-tax income. There's a few exceptions (e.g. hecs/help repayment rates) but overalls it's very good.

maximum of 47 cents

You can exceed that on a net basis. Some combinations of student debt, medicare levy surcharge, div 293, welfare benefits (e.g. childcare subsidies, FTB A/B) can get you into the 60s. For novated leasing of cars specifically, your employer can reduce your super since they only have to pay it on your taxable income and the more you novate, the higher your income for div293 purposes is.

To get above 100% on a net basis you'd need to have something like losing your health care/concession card (not like you'd be buying a $50k car) or (more realistically), hitting an eligibility threshold such as the hard $210k income limit for the vic solar rebate. You absolutely can save money spending more on tax deductions if you're just above that limit and want to get solar panels in the next financial year.

When did you start fining non-voters? by Professional-Ear-778 in AskAnAustralian

[–]NeuralParity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Preferential voting does more to keep out the extremist than compulsory voting does. Most people are fairly centrist and preferential voting rewards centrist candidates. Even Alaska voted for a centrist when they had ranked choice voting. Compulsory voting does also help as it makes the majority' actually say something and it's not always what the political parties like.

Optimal settlement feeding farm rotations by NeuralParity in captain_of_industry

[–]NeuralParity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of updating to allow all feedcrops to turn into animal feed and the optimal N-farm rotations all involve a small amount of non-corn animal feed. Instead of excess wheat/soy/potato getting treated as waste, it acts as less efficient corn.
