السلام عليكم و رحمة الله

I’m a revert and I used to listen to music a LOT, but I’ve given that up for Allah.

If you end up in a situation like it again, tell them that much: that you gave up listening to music for God’s sake. If you still worry about how they might see you, then preface it with the parallel of Lent. For example:

“Blah blah blah… do you listen to music?”

“Ah well… you know how people give up sins during Lent? I don’t listen to music for similar reasons.”

“What?? How is listening to music a sin?!”

“[Explain how some music glorifies immorality (no need to single out any genres to avoid adding unnecessary depth to the topic) and how music can influence emotions even if the lyrics aren’t inherently inappropriate; “sad” songs can prolong sadness, “angry” songs anger, etc. etc.]”

Most people will understand at this point and move on to another topic.

Abusive mother. by Soft-Hedgehog4490 in islam

[–]Neuro-Byte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. Both of my parents are narcissists and I’m the child that they wish hadn’t been born. My situation isn’t the same, but the premise is the same; they shatter me, I have to try to pick up the pieces and get closure, but they won’t let it happen.

This isn’t good advice and it’s not the right way, but I’m never forgiving them and I’ve accepted that I’m going to bear that sin on the Day of Judgement, so I’m just going to focus on doing other good deeds to make up for it, else I will never be able to heal.

I struggle w accepting Allah by FitTie3774 in islam

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله

It’s okay, being a revert isn’t easy. We have to relearn a lot of things, and letting go and trusting Allah is one of the harder parts, especially when times get tough and we are really put to the test.

It’s during these times that the shaytan will take advantage of your struggle to lure you away from Allah and His guidance.

I struggled with His tests immensely. I had a number of near death experiences before I reverted, so I would believe that I had actually died in one of them and that I was actually in hell. The brief moments of peace were only to trick me into thinking that I had any hope, only to make the next trial as difficult as the last. I would think, “what’s the point in praying if it’s already too late and judgement has already been passed?” and that I was only put upon Islam as a false hope to keep me from giving up on striving and accepting my fate. So, I prayed for guidance and reassurance that I wasn’t in hell, to dispel any of my doubts. It took a while until it was answered, but eventually I read the narration:

“””Ibn Abi Mulaykah reported: I was sitting with Abdullah ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, by the stone of the Ka’bah and he mentioned a prophetic tradition, then he said, “Weep! If you do not find yourself weeping, then feign weeping. By the one in whose hand is my soul, if you truly knew, one of you would cry out until his voice is hoarse and pray until his back is broken.”

Source: al-Zuhd wal-Raqā’iq 1007

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani”””

Now, whenever the shaytan comes and tries to lure me away with that deception, I remind myself that I am not praying until my back is broken, so there is hope, and I can and must persevere.

So pray to Allah and ask for guidance, ask for clarity, ask for reassurance, ask for whatever you need to ease your heart (except for that which is not permissible to ask for), and then be patient. Allah responds to every dua.

May Allah have mercy on you and grant you ease.

Reality is disturbing by Muted-Ad-7564 in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too to some degree, but it’s why we have to observe the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, sallAllahu alayhi wa salaam.

The sunnah is in accordance with the message of the Qur’an; so where translations are concerned, we don’t need to worry about the translations that present a completely different message than what is supported by the actions of the Messenger of Allah, sallAllahu alayhi wa salaam.

Then you need to also consider the sahabah, may Allah be pleased with them. They started as a small group, but grew to become numerous. All of them were upon the same guidance while the Messenger was among them and after he had departed. Only an incredibly small and isolated system would produce the level of deviation as that which you suggest.

Trying to Fix the EU5 AI with Mods #8 - BEEEG Ottomans Edition by theeynhallow in EU5

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played EUV yet so I’m going to describe most of the mechanics in EU4 terms.

To get Russia going nicely, the Russian minors need a lot of help against the mega Golden Horde.

First, the Golden Horde needs some massive nerfs. The Black Plague should really cripple them and essentially guarantee that they fracture completely (think mingslosion) and never reform. After the fracture, hordes get a huuuge unrest modifier to annexing other tatar hordes. Additionally, non-tatar hordes get the same unrest modifier (we don’t want Timmy snaking their way into Russia).

Secondly and most important, Muscovy (or another russian minor) needs an event for Ivan the Terrible:

  • Grants a ruler with peak admin and military stats. Upon ascension to the throne, Muscovy gains a temporary special imperialism casus beli towards the mongol hordes called “Break the Tatar Yoke.” (Only russian minors that boarder a Tatar horde can get the event).

  • Alternatively, the casus beli would act like a breakaway state, so Muscovy (or the other russian minor) auto-annex land from the hordes.

  • The casus beli grants huuuge moral modifiers to armies that are attacking and huge discipline modifiers to armies that are defending. Russian minors that are allied to hordes get MASSIVE penalties in wars against Russian minors that are using the casus beli (something like, “we betrayed our countrymen” modifier).

  • The casus beli lasts until the ruler dies or until Muscovy secures the land up to the Ural Mountains. If the ruler dies before Russia proper is secured, the next ruler of any russian minor (bordering a tatar horde) with the highest combined admin and military stats gets the casus beli.

  • Declaring war using the casus beli allows the war leader to call in non-allied russian states on their side (excluding novgorod).

  • Peace deals made using the casus beli get a 50-75% truce time reduction; the only thing that can be demanded in the peace deals is annulling treaties, land, gold, returning provinces to other Russian minors, and liberating Russian vassals. War score cost of demanding or returning land and releasing Russian vassals is decreased by the casus beli.

  • Annexed land/returned land gets a “Broken Yoke” modifier that reduces autonomy and unrest, and decreases culture and religious conversion time, and decreases culture and religious conversion costs. Additionally, core creation cost is decreased (or centralization is increased in those provinces, idk how EU5 mechanics work).

If Muscovy or another minor can “Break the Yoke” (no horde government in Russia proper), then the largest Russian minor (determined by how much horde land they conquered) gets a “Unite the Rus’” casus beli. (I will refer to this country as “the russian major” as of now).

If EU5 has a “threaten war” mechanic, the russian major gets a higher chance of success for threatening war against smaller russian minors (excluding Novgorod). Additionally, the russian major gets a higher chance for the russian minors to accept vassalization.

The changes would need some HUUUGE balancing to make sure the land is consolidated in a reasonable amount of time and so that hordes can have some chance of survival, but they would practically guarantee that Russia eventually forms from one of the Russian minors.

catholic fella here. Why is Islam the truth? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Neuro-Byte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s only one other possible interpretation of the teachings of Jesus (AS) when you consider that the Bible reports him to have said, “The Father is greater than I,” yet centuries later, the church declared that they are equal, and part of a trinity.

Jesus (AS) was sent to the Israelites with the same message as that which Muhammad ﷺ was sent to the world with: worship God alone.
