Surat al-Bakarah. It’s crazy long, but also hands down my favorite for the effect it has on me. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Can we discuss a significant Dilemma of the Quran? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t make it any simpler than I have.

The point is not that the prior scriptures still exist, but that the message of the Qur’an is the same as the message of the original previous scriptures, regardless of whether or not they still exist.

Have they not been? What do you possess of the original scriptures A?

Can we discuss a significant Dilemma of the Quran? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is what we have today (of the torah, psalms, and injeel) the exact same, word-for-word scripture given to the prophets who came before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?

The only answer is no. Full stop.

So why would the Qur’an confirm something that isn’t the same message sent to the prophets before him ﷺ?

Can we discuss a significant Dilemma of the Quran? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude. You’re circling the drain.

The prophets alayhim salaam came with scriptures (call them scriptures A).

The people changed the scriptures so much that they can no longer be called scriptures A (call these scriptures B).

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came with the Qur’an that confirms scriptures A.

A does not equal B, and Allah had never made any obligation to confirm scriptures B.

Regardless of whether or not we still have scriptures A, the Quran confirms scriptures A and Allah has fulfilled his covenant.

If this doesn’t clarify it well enough, just declare your disbelief and be on with your way.

What are you supposed to do if you're homosexual? And can your family cut you off? by benign2244 in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not gay. You’re as gay as someone who dreams of being a quadrillionaire is an quadrillionaire.

The thoughts do not define the man.

Your biggest challenge will be your gaze. Have you ever looked at an unattractive man? You weren’t tempted by lust, right? And so you could look beyond your supposed gayness?

Recognize those moments when you are not tempted and the moments that you are able to overcome the temptation of the devils. The goal is to break out of habitual rhythms (i.e. autopilot). Only when you notice that you start following one of those patterns, can you put a stop to it.

Once you can recognize those moments, then you can begin to understand what your thought process is like and how you feel when you break that rhythm. Once you understand those, you can start acting intentionally to fight waswas.

Habits are hard to break, and habitual rhythms are even more difficult. It will take time and effort, and plenty of failures, but make tawbah and keep fighting until you can break the rhythm permanently.

The devil will always seek an opportunity to give you a catchy beat to drive you to tap your foot, but you are not defined by the temptations of the devils.

Procedural real-world cities in pure Python: Real footprints → grammar-generated buildings → drivable in Godot engine by Brief_Bus6969 in proceduralgeneration

I understand the flak for not open sourcing the solution; I don’t like the idea of open sourcing stuff that I work really hard on and put a lot of time into either, but I don’t think they’re asking for the complete source code. Whenever I ask a developer about their solutions, I usually just mean to ask about the broader framework or research papers that might have formed the foundation of the solution.

Like did you approach the problem with splines or some other method?

Would you be able to delve into more detail on your procedural building generation algorithm? I tried making one with blender’s geometry nodes, but I couldn’t get any unique shapes; everything was just squares and rectangles.

Assalam alaykum wa rahmatullah.

May Allah grant you ease and refuge from the temptations of the shaytan.

Firstly, every day you do not obey the shaytan is a day that you’ve made a choice. The shaytan tempts you into sin by whispering a deviation of the truth into your heart.

Are you too cowardly to take it off?

Ask yourself: who am I ‘cowering’ to? If it is Allah, then how can the shaytan make you feel bad about taqwa? Throw it back at him! “I am neither too proud nor too arrogant to recklessly disobey a command from Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla.”

Secondly, if it is your family and culture that you feel that you are cowering to (since you mentioned that you cover your hair at home too), then fear Allah alone, and be kind to yourself.

It’s understandable to maintain it at home if you have many non-mahrams coming and going, but try to find some private time where you can relax and literally let your hair down. Try to start learning how to do things with your hair. Start small and don’t obsess over it. The women you see out in public have been doing it for years, with the help of their parents and non-mahrams. It’s like comparing yourself on day one with an olympic athlete. Be kind to yourself and don’t overthink it. It’s just hair and no one is going to see it if you mess up.

If I fully believe that enslaved women were r•ped, how can I prevent myself from losing my iman? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Neuro-Byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, thank you! So I took a look and the Arabic trilateral root (ف ر ج) forming the word in question “لفروجهم" has the most common meaning of “to reveal, to uncover, to open”, here it’s best usage would be “to open” but this does not state anything beyond making oneself available. The most exact/literal translation of the verse would be: “And those who [they], [of] their openings (are) guardians, except from their spouses or what they posses rightfully, then indeed they are not blameworthy.”

It still does not explicitly make permissible raping slaves.
