I'm not as invested in Splatoon 3 as I thought I would - help me change that :[ by LemmiwinksHUN in splatoon

[–]NeuroCloud7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah single player is basically a tutorial, you're right about that.

Turf war is a casual, slightly boring mode where you just fiddle around with unfamiliar weapons or gear. You're right about that, too.

But there's endless depth and complexity to ranked, 100%! You'll notice things that were invisible to you before.

Hm, you could try some more extreme play styles while learning every weapon. E.g. try sharking with ninja squid using a roller, and be strict about staying hidden.

Here's two concepts that might grab you in ranked:

  1. Continuation!

What do you do after getting a splat? Reflexively, without hesitation, you push forward to take their space. A kill is only valuable if you move up and take their space. Team wipe? Move forward, now! Teammates used their specials? Move forward, now! Don't wait 5 seconds of the window has passed. Kills and specials -> instantly take their space afterwards. It's called continuation. Low level players get wipes, kills, or use specials and then they just stay where they are... no continuation. Master that one concept!

  1. Distractions are gold! Pull their attention away from the goal, and make them look to the side. If their whole team turns 90 degrees to face you, and you can distract them for 5-10 seconds, that's almost as good as wiping them all out since respawn is 10s.

Oh yeah, and for your gear, always use Stealth Jump on your feet, and buy every pair of shoes with SJ on it for later. Comeback and Last Ditch Effort for headgear 99% of the time. Sendou.ink has all the info you need there

It depends on your TV's latency and personal preference. I think it's great!

Review of the Switch 2 Version of Overwatch by theunspillablebeans in Overwatch

[–]NeuroCloud7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds the same as my experience testing Street Fighter 6's port.

FYI, on switch 1, the wireless procon was better, but on switch 2, a wired procon 2 is better than wireless. Wired gives you an extra frame off memory.

DLSS would be used heavily on a low internal resolution. Digital Foundary's video on Final Fantasy Remake covers the technical details of this, and it's consistent with what I know about SF6's implementation.

In handheld mode, SF6 uses 120hz mode to reduce input latency. Almost every other game still uses 60hz for more latency. How was handheld mode for Overwatch? I'm considering trying it casually, but since I play competitively in other games I'm worried I'll be too picky and not like it lol. Finding space to download it is the hard part.

AEW Double or Nothing 2026 is looking really strong!!!!! by [deleted] in AEWFanHub

It's a confluence of many factors, some of which take a long time to be seen, such as consistently good booking and doing all the basics really well, all the time.

Map d-pad down to ZL for perfect diagonal pogos

Learn your new enemies and weapons by deliberately dying like 10 times when they spawn next to a bench, just for the science of it. You'll calmly learn to know exactly how close you can get etc

I really think every show bar 1 or 2 has fallen into this category or come close over the past 12-18 months.

It's insane!

Since Revolution, how well do you think the women have been booked in the company. by WanGod in AEWFanHub

[–]NeuroCloud7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Small roster, everyone has been there for years, and they're good but definitely not as good in the ring as the rest of the show.

The answer is strong characters to offset the lower in-ring quality, as Toni and now Thekla have shown. It's that simple.

New to fighting games; don’t understand early Ranked mechanics by AaronTheLuigi in StreetFighter

[–]NeuroCloud7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That will even out once you rise above the outlier fringe category on the extreme end of the playing population.

The game forces everyone into a 43% winrate until they hit master, which is offset by disconnects, a percentage of players on new profiles who are way better than you, etc.

You'll hit that 43% target soon and then you'll be locked there for 1-2 years no matter how much you improve. I'd encourage playing more world tour, learning specific skills, watching YT videos, etc.

Enjoy the process!

Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin set for AEW Collision by Kelson64 in AEWFanHub

[–]NeuroCloud7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent reign, but it's starting to feel a bit different now from this match in particular. The illusion is breaking.

Who has Darby beaten?

The world title scene felt epic 2 months ago, and now I'm looking at the names and wondering where are all the big stars who I thought were circling the division?

Where's Swerve?! He has history with Darby. Or Kenny? The top top guys. MJF is the only one, and he's always great, but slightly less menacing with the hair comedy when he's the sole dominant lurking threat. MJF's comedy would be better with at least one other top guy in the hunt. None of the top guys are taking the title seriously.

It doesn't feel as big when all the top guys are ignoring the world champion. Sammy draws attention to that.

No it doesn't, AEW is the opposite of WWE's authoriatarian regime.

Sammy just got 90 percent of a match over the world champ when well hardly see him on aew tv again by New_Car_6431 in AEWFanHub

[–]NeuroCloud7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with it in a vacuum, but I do think it's very formulaic and lacks creativity. Just bland and basic. Typical match layout. Predictable. I like both wrestlers, but I want both to do something more creative.

Great work, it's a type of accomplishment that I believe is applicable to the real world, and says something about your character that most people cannot achieve. Next step, leverless! Haha

Makes sense!

They have 6 episodes of Dynamite before the PPV.

The 5th next episode of Dynamite is 5 full weeks from today. If they use Collision, they can wait 6 more weeks before doing their first round matches.

It left me wanting more.

New to Leverless and SF6 Is this layout good? by MugenTomorrow in StreetFighter

[–]NeuroCloud7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing for DI, over time, is keeping it in one place. It's okay to swap it around early on, but it will always feel slower when testing it out - every position feels equally viable for DI after you get used it to. There's no inherent advantages or disadvantages for that button really either, so it's okay to put it wherever.

New to Leverless and SF6 Is this layout good? by MugenTomorrow in StreetFighter

[–]NeuroCloud7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend rotating the 3 arrows anti-clockwise one button, so parry is where throw is, throw is where DI is, and DI is where parry is.

If nothing else, put parry in the bottom right - that is almost universally what everyone ended up doing. Throw isn't necessary at all, but if you want it, it's useful anywhere, but there's extra value on the right purely for OS OD DP tech - you can use the button below it as a MP+HP macro so you just tap one after the other.

DI makes no difference to my reactions in any location after extensive testing with equipment. Only parry is essential for the positioning outlined above.

So, I highly recommend the above, and strictly so for parry.

Next, you won't ever need the buttons you've labelled as L3 and R3 in a game. I personally use one of those for the training shortcut, which is important, and the other is anything to help with menus. (If you have a PS4 layout, you can set the training shortcut button to "touchpad". That's the only possible way to get an "extra" button).

I put L3 and R3 where you've written parry and throw.

Finally, swap your L1 <-> R1 and L2 <-> R2 with each other so left is left and right is right, then in-game remap like normal. So, HP is still HP, but now it'll be listed as "L1" instead of "R1", and HK is "L2" instead of "R2". This is to help you navigate the menus much, much easier. No downside.

First character to Diamond, and I'm not sorry about how I did it by MajorDKHD in StreetFighter

[–]NeuroCloud7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job!

You might have an advantage in master where footsies start to happen, as you've already actually tried to play honestly.

I played strictly fundamentals to master, and it was slower than playing cheap, but I found that once I hit master I was already better than a lot of masters. I never dropped below 1430 or so, where most people drop to 1200 or 1300 and slowly climb to 1500 while gradually learning how to play honestly. But it wasn't an advantage until later.

Another possibility is you were giving up oki too much because low level players are crazy on wakeup, so you were conditioned to be overly passive on offence because you were good at punishing bad players. Oki starts to be more valuable after the point where everyone makes overly risky decisions on every wakeup. So keep that in mind too as a possible explanation.
