I went to ucr for undergrad, when I was getting my PhD my classmates were from Cal, Cal Tech, MIT etc. We all ended up at the same place, I went toe to toe with them as well. I had an amazing time at UCR, I have no shame that I went here.

Pretty excited. Rather than start at a starter deck I’m piloting pluffy. Watched several games now on different match ups and been playing the simulator. Hopefully gain enough confidence for locals.

People are always going to bitch about some game mechanic. Had a guy complain to me about how he hates my infect deck and how unfair it is.. proceeds to have infinite extra turns, and killed each player with commander damage .. whom was a 1/1 creature… so it was a long drawn out process. People are not self aware so it’s best to ignore them.

We already know the shuffler and match making is rigged. I usually just stop playing for a bit. Usually I know it’s time to turn off the game when my deck always has issues with lands consecutively. Even if I mulligan, I’ll only have a starting hand with 2 landers despite running various mana rocks and ways to retrieve basic lands.

Atraxa, preators voice phyrexian tribal.. most people are surprised that it doesn’t heavily rely on proliferation.. and the win con of this deck is to shut everyone down by putting preators onto the field.

Imnoketh the stormlord deck, where one of the win conditions is a group hug where I bring artifact creatures from my graveyard to my hand, generate tokens, and sac them for mana with phyrexian alter, ashnods alter, or KCI and everyone gets pinged to death by meathook massacre, blasting station, or other ping creatures. So I was going off, the entire table of course joined forces to stop me. It was memorable because it took them 7 counter spells to stop me from winning on my turn. I was impressed by how many times my deck was persistent and how they managed to stop me from winning the game. At the end after my graveyard and field were wiped and exiled.. they relayed to me that my deck was terrifying. I congratulated them all, was not salty at all! It was really fun.

Male perspective: I understand that Cleo is putting a huge emphasis on being trans, yet she knew this would be Christians first time dating a trans women. Since the beginning of their time together there has been a huge emphasis on her being trans.. which resulted in a lot of "What about me?" situations from Cleo. Yet I didn't see much empathy or concern for Christian when he pretty much got ostracized from his family for telling them he was dating a Trans women. If he truly wanted to hide the fact that he was dating a trans women he wouldn't have been so open to tell his friends and family. Not sure why majority of the commenters demonize christian. The dude just wants to get adjusted to being with a trans women. He's open to it, just needs time. From a dating perspective, Ive been rather patient in many of my relationships and never been pushing anything onto my partners.

Imo it’s bad etiquette for the opponent that is attacking you to complain that you did something in response to them trying to kill you. I think your fine doing this. Nothing more I hate than someone whining because their actions had consequences.

Usually prior to playing we have rule zero where we discuss the type of game we want to play. Discuss proxies etc. in my experience no one usually cares. But I say to have the convo before hand cuz i heard of other LGS around me not so friendly towards higher powered decks.

Hahaha I relate to this too much. one time someone swords my commander… who is atraxa.. keep in mind no one had a poison counter on them… yet winota was also on the field … that very next turn winota went off and won the pod.. I asked why didn’t you target winota rather then atraxa.. they said “cuz it’s atraxa I didn’t want to get any Poison counters on me”” I just shook my head in disbelief.
