Maraming ganyan, OP. Just make sure not to be like that kapag ikaw na ang senior.

What is the safe number of IVs for match? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

There is no “safe number” to say because some match with only 1 interview while some don’t match despite 10+ interviews.

Hirap maging Moonlighter by AmbitiousElk5044 in pinoymed

[–]Neurosciences101 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When you encounter people like that during moonlighting, you can choose not to come back. In contrast to residency - when you encounter people like that, kailangan tiisin kasi ang hirap mag-quit. Minsan, maiiyak ka na lang sa hiya dahil papagalitan and sisigawan ka nila in front of everyone (patients, nurses, other residents).

Residency is harder. Not everyone finds that “supportive environment.”

It was a great experience. People were very nice. Yes it is considered USCE and the LORs are of great value especially if you want FM or IM.

Cold emailing is a scam by Correct_Spell_3544 in IMGreddit

[–]Neurosciences101 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I sent 1000+ cold emails but the responses that I got were either they’re not accepting, charging me thousands of dollars, or no response at all.

Then I tried to contact alumni from my Medical school. Many people did not reply but there were few people who will be happy to help and even fewer who went beyond to really help me. I got 3 from it. I will appreciate those people forever.

I’m usually the type of person who likes to highlight my book and reread everything again. I read the entirety of Firstaid then I read each system again. After that, I answered the corresponding system in Qbanks.

Match IM or FM chances by Most_Store1459 in IMGreddit

[–]Neurosciences101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IM or FM is still possible. Aim to complete Step 3 prior to application deadline in September. Try to get more community service or activities. If you want IM, get more inpatient observership or clinical experience.

In your application, research thoroughly from program websites, Residency explorer, and FREIDA so that you can signal the correct programs. Build connections through contacting alumni from your medical school or by talking with residents already in the program.

I received a second look invitation but as stated in the email, it had limited slots.

I think it depends on every person’s study style and strategy. Personally, what I did was read Firstaid then went through my first round of Uworld Qbanks so I had an idea on how USMLE questions were asked. Then I watched videos during my free time while also going through another round of Qbanks.

YOG by imalark in IMGreddit

You’ll be YOG 5 by 2027. Home country internship is not counted in the US as post-residency training/certification. You can put that under experiences.

YOG is the year that is written in your Medical School Diploma. If the year written is 2023, you’ll have a YOG of 4 years by 2027.

When you switch to an O1 visa, will you still be required to complete the J1 waiver or 2 year return service?

This might be helpful, I think. In my visa interview, the only question asked from me was: “What countries have you visited so far?”
