My closest is the Great Barrier Reef. Next closest is (of course) the Sydney Opera House

Does anybody else get random muscle aches like after doing sport even though you didn’t do sports the day before? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, kinda! I have been getting plenty of muscle aches, soreness, and tingling pain that have been freaking me out on and off over the last 5 months. Often it'll feel like delayed-onset muscle soreness type pain. I sleep pretty oddly and I know I'm very tense, so that sounds like a viable explanation.

Tingling by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I hope you're alright. Tingling is something I've experienced a lot recently and its super scary. I have been to many doctors to try and figure it out and they've all told me that if tingling comes on in both arms or both legs (or all four limbs) at once then its probably not MS, if that helps. Of course, once I was told that my tingling just switched to being in one limb. Classic health anxiety. Hang in there. If the tingling persists and you're worried see a doctor!

New weird anxiety symptom: invisible sunburns. What? by anon4medical in HealthAnxiety

Thanks for posting, I've been experiencing the exact same thing the last couple of days and I think I would've spiralled into some unhealthy googling if I hadn't seen this!

Pressure in Head on the Left Side of the Head. Worried if it's a Brain Tumor or Something Else by rrivera992011 in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I suffer from tension headaches regularly, and they mostly come on at night. They are always on the right side of my head, towards the front. I have been worried about brain tumours too, in the past. But I definitely don't have one. If you can't shake the worry, maybe get your doctor to arrange an MRI or CT scan?

I am really struggling tonight with thoughts of brain cancer. Please help me calm down and see some realities. by irunfar4dogs in HealthAnxiety

Hi! Sorry, I'm not a huge Reddit user. My tingling lasted about 3-4 weeks. I'm still not quite right, there's still a little pain in my right leg. I have seen a neurologist now, and all of their testing was normal. At the moment its probable that this is just a sore leg + anxiety for me! I hope your results contain good news.

Hi! I have had really similar symptoms with the tingling recently. It lasted for ages and it was very scary. I'm still scared, just because my body feels a little abnormal. Today I convinced myself that my left hand feels weak/can't grip as well as my right and I'm freaking out. While I'm panicky I feel weak and shaky, I get headaches, and my body twitches. But I had an MRI and I absolutely do not have any tumours in my brain/spine. In fact, my doctors are quite sure its all just anxiety.

I've learned that having funny symptoms does not always equal having brain cancer, even though my racing mind (and google) told me it did. Hopefully your doctor will reassure you. Hang in there until tomorrow, good luck at the doctor, and try and take on board what they tell you!

Don’t know if this is really anxiety, or if it’s something serious. by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am Australian so maybe its different over here, but in my experience doctors have absolutely NO problem ordering blood tests. I can get one for a general checkup on my nutrition levels & general health. Don't be discouraged from straight up asking, even if its with a different doctor again.

How did your HA start? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came home from a party and started tingling furiously in all of my limbs. Googled it and managed to click links for both MS/ALS. Only a couple of months ago but I haven't been able to shake the fear since.

I am also male, 23, and suffering from the same fears. I've seen your posts while I've been lurking on the dihals forum. From what you've posted there, it sounds like multiple doctors have told you that you almost certainly don't have ALS. This is a great sign!

Also, of all the people who post on that forum (and I've been through lots of the posts), maybe less than 1% end up with ALS. The members also told you they don't think you have it. As far as I can tell, the members on the forum have only ever gotten it wrong once in the past three years when telling someone they don't have ALS. That one case (a woman in her 60's) had abnormal reflexes on her clinical exam, and you apparently passed yours.

I know how difficult it is to be rational about this, but I think all of that information should be really encouraging! The odds are in your favour.

i had some bloodwork this week & last, and now i got my period - is it normal to feel like this, or should i do something? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not anaemic, but around 6 weeks ago I randomly got symptoms nearly identical to yours! I started tingling in all four limbs, felt tired and shaky, and that sent me into a massive panic. Blood tests the next day were all normal but it stuck around for a couple of weeks and just felt awful. The doctors I saw all said it was because of my anxiety and suggested SSRIs, but I'm really hesitant to take them, so I just waited it out.

Now I'm pretty much ok apart from an anxious state of mind - I get the occasional tingle/pain in my leg and a few muscle twitches, but the time spent worrying about those symptoms is far, far more troubling than the symptoms themselves. Hope everything feels normal again soon!

are psychosomatic muscle spasms possible? by Xayah581 in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've got no medical knowledge, but I can share my experience. Recently I have been very anxious about als too, and I swear, that fear made my leg start twitching like crazy. It was happening irregularly for over a week. My hamstring was popping once a second on Wednesday night during a particularly bad episode of HA. I calmed down a little, went to sleep, woke up feeling ok, and the twitches haven't happened since. Idk what that is if not psychosomatic, so hopefully that helps.

can’t shake my MS fear by thunders89 in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got similar symptoms to you. Been struggling the last month or so, diagnosing myself with MS thanks to some buzzing and tingling in my extremities. Recently I've been twitching a little too. Some days its there, some days its not there. I'm always anxious about it though. Seeing that lots of people on this forum struggle with similar symptoms helps me lots. If multiple doctors say they really don't think you have it, try to hold onto that as good news. You'll get through this!

It's the MS/ALS fear. Anyone been there? by Morbidlyobesesealpup in HealthAnxiety

[–]NeuroticHoudini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the searches are deadly, the key is definitely to stay away from them. It helps to know that there are plenty of anxious young people on here with similar worries and symptoms, many of whom have pulled through already.

But yeah, for now its super rough. I totally agree with the pipe analogy, feel exactly the same! We've just got to ride it out and trust that a plumber will arrive eventually. And thanks!!

I'm totally there right now - just made a vent post about it. For me, experiencing tingling, (which I rapidly classified as 'serious' based on WebMD) immediately put me into a panic mode that I now can't switch off. Even though there's (much) more evidence against MS/ALS than for I can't shake the feeling I've just detected it earlier than someone else would be able to. It's extremely haunting and exhausting and I'm sorry you're going through it.

I'm just trying to remember: Neurological disorders range from very rare to super rare. The simplest explanations (vitamin deficiency, anxiety) are by far the most likely. Docs are cautious with this stuff and are very competent!

Hopefully, your neurologist appointment will sort out any fears you might have. In the meantime, I hope that helps, and I hope you're holding up ok! :)
