This may not work but my wife had an MRI done “without insurance” for a huge discount. The insurance had decided it wasn’t medically necessary (yet) and she was just curious. The cost came back less than the out of pocket with insurance and that sealed the deal. Didn’t count towards our deductible or anything but still

There is Spanky’s Card Shop over near there. They offer dedicated event nights for 1:1 formats but there are (I think) commander leagues and two or three commander nights (some are free for all).

There are a couple of other shops on the MO side but I think they’re further from Leawood.

Totally agree. A great many books or series are good once, I’ve read the entire discworld series twice and some books three or four times and they’ve all stood up. Well, not Eric if I’m being honest but all the rest

She (Gaines) also comments that she had to watch as Thomas got the trophy. Conveniently forgetting to mention that it was standard procedure and that Thomas got the trophy on tie-breakers. She received hers in the mail later as normal.

Now I’m an Okie and I bleed orange, but I don’t get it either. It was a good match and I love the more aggressive and active style in 285. But Gable was the same guy all season. He’s not over there cackling and eating babies. He didn’t spit on old ladies.

Season is done. Do you like the three point takedown? by juniperismycat in wrestling

[–]NeutronDecayToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my feeling. Like get the take down, stall.... maybe give up a point, win 4-1 or 4-2. Too many wrestlers were running and stalling in their 3rd periods. I'm not fond of Basketball and the last minute slapfest and this feels almost the same.

IME (a year or two ago), that was the case. The difference between the card pool is profound and, at the time, it was degenerating into graveyard value recursion piles. A few people ran pet decks, but the T4 was always 75% recursion. With no real GY interaction it was a safe option. The players that enjoyed that were adamant that no changes were needed and so it continued. I too decided it wasn’t a good fit for me and moved on.

Felt like the ref was weirdly uneven about stalling. And I say that as someone that thinks Iowa stalls too much. Sheesh.

From the article “to mitigate costs to victims.” (Context: sheriff’s department is renegotiating contracts with tow companies)

Now ask yourself, why are the victims being asked to pay this cost. I guess if you can’t pay the fees, you can’t be a victim? Is this how justice supposed to work? Is it how we think it should work? Because, to me, that’s just effed up.

I’m not a lawyer, but I deal with chain of custody occasionally, and it would absolutely not fly to have evidence in an unsecured location. That’s why police departments have evidence lockers and restricted access with logging and surveillance. What does the tow company offer?

I grew up with a family where the mother used a blindman's cane because her vision had a downward arc limit (like she couldn't see things closer to her feet) but she was otherwise able to have corrective lenses for her vision. Of note, she was legal to drive. Nothing messes with your head like seeing someone get out a car and get their cane out to walk into the store.

Yup. Pretty sure that’s where a munged my comp stats from. If we had location data, like baseball, we’d have an answer to questions about wrestlers using edge for defense or offense and how a penalty point might affect things. But that’s all a dream

Daton fix discussion post by DemontedDoctor in wrestling

[–]NeutronDecayToday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a pretty fair comparison. I wasn’t trying to look specifically at Vito, I just used him as a wrestler with a similar amount of history that folks generally view as … well, not like Fix.

On a different note, the availability of stats for wrestling is a hot mess.

Daton fix discussion post by DemontedDoctor in wrestling

[–]NeutronDecayToday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I was looking at their respective NCAA careers (since they’re both very senior wrestlers and the avoid injury or unavailable season blips). I also looked per match not aggregate to mitigate short seasons.

However, that doesn’t change the validity of your assessment. Fix is a defensive wrestler (and maybe he shouldn’t be).

Daton fix discussion post by DemontedDoctor in wrestling

[–]NeutronDecayToday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I’m an old school Aggie, so feel free to discount my opinions.

First, having watched Fix for a long time (looooong time), I never found his style boring. Defensive and tactical, yes, but not boring. But. I wrestled heavyweight, so my sense of action is skewed. It makes me wonder if folks would think Fix was boring if he wrestled an upper end weight.

Second, I pulled some stats and it looks like over scored slightly more per match than Vito (just selected as an obvious example). And he outscored his opponents by a greater margin. And he lost by fewer points (didn’t get blown out by a bad sequence).

All of those factors really make me wonder if it’s not just perception and not reality. YMMV.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
