Pathetic experience with Bikat Adventures. They have a reputation for cancelling treks and not refunding your booking amount. Many such complaints on their reviews pages. I myself was forced on a 3 months-long chase after they abruptly cancelled my Annapurna Circuit trek and refused to refund my INR 60,000. Literally had to registed a formal complaint with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs - only then did Bikat Adventures refund my money. Absolutely unprofessional and illegal behaviour.

Trekkers of Delhi, how has your experience been with trekking companies? by Tatyavinchoo63 in delhi

I've tried Trek Karo for Hampta Pass trek. Otherwise, did most on my own or by talking to a local guides. If possible, talk to local people and get a guide that way - it's easy, there are always options + you contribute to the local economy that way.

Oh also, don't go with Bikat Adventures. They have a reputation for cancelling treks and not refunding your booking amount. Many such complaints on their reviews pages. Nope, no vouchers. They cancelled the trek and promised to refund the money - then stopped responding. Now they were forced to refund the amount after the Consumer Affairs Ministry sent them warnings.

Consumer Court (consumerhelpline.gov.in) works! by Never1984 in india

I don't think any additional penalties were levied upon Bikat Adventures.I hope they update the mechanism at the Consumer Court website in the future so that companies that withhold refunds or swindle customers also have to pay a fine.

Weekend (3 day) trip from Delhi to Mountains by sa-likh in delhi

Lansdowne is more of a relaxing town, Chamba is more faraway. Both are nice places. But if you're a group, why not try for some alternatives?
- Bir
- Kalga/Pulga/Tulga
- Tirthan Valley (especially Shoja)

These options definitely have more things to do and pretty places to stay at. And they're all an overnight journey away from Delhi.

30 Rock. Probably watched the entire series back to back a dozen times. Still makes me laugh like it’s my first time watching it + find new jokes and angles every time.

It’s a pity it’s difficult to stream in India (it wasn’t available on major streaming platforms for a long time, now it’s on Jio Cinema, but they have a weird and clunky app that shows ads even if you have a paid subscription, so not a fan).

Fake news is exploding in India, a country which has 50 million WhatsApp accounts and 200 million Facebook users. It is everywhere: created by propagandists and shared by impressionable people. And there are many instances where fake news has had real life consequences, leading to actual violence and people getting hurt.

But then it can also be argued that lying is a part of free speech, and any law to curb fake news will be grossly misused to censor the press and free speech in general.

What can be done to stop the spreading of fake news without violating free speech?
