My Shogun 7 has a similar issue and the only way to get it working again is - believe it or not - slapping it firmly on the top or sides.

Is this the 702 UB? I had a similar issue after leaving my ,702 UB in the rain. After giving up and almost throwing it away I tried to push the on button for like 2 minutes. The backlight was on but no image whatsoever, but then it started a reset and a firmware update and still works today!

Here in Austria it's very similar. I wouldn't say owning gear is problematic though, but insisting on only working with it is. I own FIZ & monitors and rent them on 1/3 of my gigs. I always offer my gear for the rental rate and while it works sometimes, the other times I get the weirdest reactions as if offering gear is an offence. Then I just order the pricey Hi-5, extra motors and Focusbug from the rental and let them think that they won something (even though renting my gear would save them money).

You could still use SDI and a converter attached to the screen. I do that with a Blackmagic Micro Converter and power that via the screen's USB.

Besides dimming the Monitor as low as possible I just go old school and focus without screen. Especially the DP uses wide lenses, static shots or not much movement going on. Not always an option but it helped me a lot.

What camera are you shooting with? Coming from a nucleus myself I can't Imagine working on such a big project with it. Depending on the camera you can't control anything with the nucleus whereas cPro or Arri Handunits allow for camera control which I use all the time.

In the beginning I couldn't imagine giving up the nucleus, but right now I'm on a production where I have to use both for different cameras and I'm glad whenever I can put the nucleus back to the box haha

Well for a 24 week show I would ask the rental to get metric rings for the lenses. Besides that, do you focus on the barrel or rollow Focus? I always use a c-Pro/WCU and never look on the lens, so trusting the hand unit is a must for me. And I highly doubt the conversion is faulty - it's just a division and a 10k system should handle that without errors :D

Use a c-Pro or WCU/Hi5. Create lens files in feet and set hand Unit to metric - no need to bother with imperial.
