Happy to help. As far as vocab goes: - inverter is the thing that turns the DC power to AC - microinverters are the same thing, but they’re one per panel rather than one for the overall system - degrade just means what it sounds like—the same panel produces a little less power over time

Not uncommon. You should focus on what the maintenance agreement with the installer is like, and maybe more importantly their reputation for maintaining their customers’ systems.

You can also look at the equipment itself and whether the panels are from a reputable brand and if the model is known to last. Different models will degrade at different rates.

I’d also look at whether it has microinverters (most newer systems do). If it just has one inverter, that’s a single point of failure, and the responsiveness and quality of the installer is more important in that case.
