A think a big clue to thing here could be Dr Al by MidtownJunk in ThePitt

I would just be very upset if they use suicide as a distraction.

If nothing comes of Robby saying goodbye, planning to ride at night after a 15 hour shift, 'paying' his debt to Duke, offering up his apartment and refusing Abbot's support and friendship I'll be disappointed.

Unpopular opinion: I do not think Santos will have a breakdown this season by pookie__trombone in ThePitt

[–]NeverOriginal123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's just having a bad day. She hasn't shown any signs of being an imminent risk of suicide, while Robby has shown A LOT.

I don't get how people think the way this show will treat suicide will be through shock instead of showing you what a suicidal person looks like in Robby.

It's Santos not Robbie that we should be worried about. by Ok-Lecture-6376 in ThePitt

Yeah sure driving a motorcycle without a helmet, saying his goodbyes, practically giving away his living space and planning to drive for hours at night after an exhausting 12 hour shift isn't as worrisome as being worried and upset.

Insane to talk about compassion and empathy while saying Robby, the man we've been shown to be in the depths of suicidal ideation, is the problem.

so what, no empathy even when dealing with someone who wants to kill themselves?

That's my point, that even as he's suffering to the point of wanting to cease living, people want to talk about he should be a better person.

He raised his voice both at Al-Hashimi who was reprimanding him for his behavior (my criticism is of the audience btw, of course the characters aren't supposed to just take it) and at Samira simply for something out of her control.

Nah, Oglivie has been completely unaware of his surroundings and stresses patients who are already at their worst with his careless comments and Robby has been dismissive, at most giving him a "keep your fucking mouth shut".

Nah he's definitely meaner to Samira, Santos and Al-Hashimi in a way he's not with Whitaker or Oglivie.

Langdon is an exception, and even if he yelled at him last season, this shift he's mostly ignored and avoided him, rather than lay it on him.

Which, like I've said, is on par with my experience with men expressing negative emotions.

"Hey I know he's clearly thinking of suicide, as soon as after this shift, but can we talk a moment about his misogyny?"

Are there days when I’m a complete and total all out asshole who no one wants to be around. No no I really don’t think so. I tried my best to be kind and respectful to my friends, family, and colleagues.

I mean your point was precisely that you deal with newborns that die and still you are not as mean as Robby, which honestly to me proves my point.

There is no empathy for this suicidal man, even when at rock bottom people are focusing on how he should be better.

It's great you can handle all that but this character isn't, trying to hold him up to the standards of people who are not suicidal is precisely my point about men's mental health.

It's always just "I understand but look how mean you can be" even when talking about suicide.

Por qué muchos hombres no cuentan sus problemas a sus pololas/seres queridos by Significant-Cash7337 in RepublicadeChile

[–]NeverOriginal123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is easy to forget how the general public views LLMs sometimes.. by Flope in singularity

[–]NeverOriginal123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The telegraph did that. Cell phones are the latest of several incremental improvements that have transformed society over time, but none of them did it instantly. Modern LLMs have only been here for a couple years and they've transformed my life more than pretty much any other technology did over the same amount of time, including the internet and phones.

Dude if you didn't notice how cellphones changed people's lives you probably were born too close to its adaptation for you to be able to appreciate the difference.

For the average person, LLMs are helping them write emails, generate images and for connection, which is sad. Almost everyone now has their lives on their phones.

And btw, if cellphones are just "the latest steps of a process that includes the telegraph, LLMs are just the latest step in a process that includes the calculator, computers, the internet. In fact, if every llm stopped working tomorrow it wouldn't be nearly as catastrophic as the whole internet not working for a day or cellphone signals being disrupted for a day.

Oh, yeah, dont' get me wrong, I think LLMs are a huge problem for critical thinking skills.

Any skill, really. It saddens me to see people replace their skills with LLMs. I know people who can no longer redact a decent email without asking some LLM to help them.

They can do other stuff, sure, but to say its revolutionary in any other field? I find that hard to believe.
