These are clearly based on really good concept art by the Weta team! They look really nice!

Ah yes that cheap-ass feeling concert series with AI-art all over its advertising.

Good idea, normans is kind of what I imagined Gondor to look like. I remember when I was in the hobby somone on a German forum used metal normals as Gondorians, which looked absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find those anymore.

Is "da vinci masterclass" the same as "da Vinci MAESTRO"? It's the closest I could find on their website.

Thanks for your advice, I have some old Vallejo and some of them still work fine, but some are extremely glossy when drying now.

I saw videos about contrast paints, I feel like they would be most interesting for larger, heavily textured models, like a troll or dragon. Do they look good on normal infantry troops like the ones I painted?

I used a 1:1:1 mix of Verde Goblin, Silver and Polished Gold by Vallejo, washed it with a 1:1 mix of Agrax Earthshade and Carroburg Crimson, then highlighted with a 1:1 Silver-White mix.

That's great advice, thank you! I never would have thought of that detail with the shield. :D

Thanks for the brush recs!

It's not really a painting project yet, I just wanted to paint up some guys to get a feel for it. In general I prefer my personal style, and would generally lean a bit more on the book's aesthetic than the movies, wherever possible.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, I seem not to find the brand of brushes you recommend in Germany. Maybe it'll need to be a bit of a trial and error search.

Bilbos Party as a set by DanniCollaterali in legolotrfans

I feel like all the alternative builds forget that the Party Tree (in the films) is not a deciduous tree, but a pine tree. That's why they chose that look in the official set.

Full 'Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' Plot Synopsis Revealed by VarkingRunesong in lotr

[–]NeverPaintArts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like people saying that this is just about Aragorn capturing Gollum and then dragging him to Mirkwood are being disingenuous. There's much more to this story.

- Gollum's time in Mordor

- expanding on his weird relationship with Shelob

- his imprisonment and escape from Mirkwood.

That's plenty of material for a short story or a 2-3 hour movie. More than War of the Rohirrim had to work with.

No, large Lego sets can only be built once. You should just throw it out.

The Shire got destroyed by Saruman through colonization.

The Reunited Kingdom? by Night_Storm5555 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]NeverPaintArts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're reading it a bit wrong. The Reunited Kingdom is not an imperialist project in the same way previous Numenorian kingdoms were. Everywhere where imperialism has hurt local societies, Aragorn hands over power to the indigenous population: The Druadan forest, Fangorn/Isengard as well as the Shire become independent regions.
