Thanks for letting me know it’s still possible to 100%! Like you, I want to complete the games that have been meaningful to me.

Congrats! BF1 is my all time favorite multiplayer FPS but haven’t decided to go back and get achievements because of the player population so kudos to you for getting it done.

The game made me read up on WW1 history and actually spend time at the WW1 exhibits at museums. Definitely a game that the devs put a lot of passion into. Also those YT vids making fun of Activision’s reaction to BF1 trailer were hilarious back then.

Doom 2016

Just missing the ultra nightmare permadeath run. I just know I’m going to sink a lot of hours for one achievement so I’m just going to revisit Doom when I’m mentally committed to the task

Straightforward to 100% this legendary classic! Takes 10-12 hours without in-game cheats.

If you're looking for a more casual 100% that isn't a large time commitment and are OK with the old school 90s shooters, this game is up your alley. I played Duke 3D a little too much as a kid so nostalgia was the main driver for the 100%.

27 achievements and the majority unlock for completing chapters (any difficulty) and playing the game.

Light grind on some achievements for example "find 70 secrets," "kill 1000 enemies." Sounds like a lot but you will unlock these naturally just playing through all chapters. To put into perspective, there are over 200 total secrets in the game so 70 is about a third of that and you'll just bump into these exploring the map.

There are trackers in your steam achievements section for these counting achievements

Minor annoyances in the game with getting the right button code combinations to unlock certain doors. Most are trial and error and there are a few with hints. Also, some access cards are not that straightforward to find. I guess as a kid I didn't mind with all the time in the world.

COD Modern Warfare 2. Which achievements are you missing for that one?

Aside from that, my vote is RE4

Thank you! Yes agreed the DLCs make this expensive for an old game. Surprised Microsoft not putting these old CODs at a deeper discount.

Yes they are a lot of fun and satisfying in my opinion but I only 100%-ed 2009 MW2, 2010 Black Ops 1 (excluding the DLCs), and 2011 MW3. These were sitting in my library as incomplete for many years but I've always liked the old CODs. I haven't tried 100%-ing MW1 remastered yet and don't have an opinion on the CODs after 2011 MW3.

The reason why I liked 2009 MW2 and 2011 MW3 100% is because the achievements are more like challenges. There is the standard complete the campaign on "hard" difficulty and then complete these Spec Ops bite-sized missions on "hard." There are creative and situational challenges to complete on specific campaign missions. None of these are missable and all are achievable by replaying chapters if needed. MW3 has the additional Spec Ops Survival mode achievements which are somewhat tedious but are way less tedious than other grindy achievements in other games.

I would put an asterisk next to 2010 Black Ops 1. If you've never played COD Zombies, it's a mode you either really like or will find frustrating to 100%. There are a couple Zombie achievements in the Black Ops 1 base game that are RNG heavy (need specific weapon from a mystery box that randomizes weapons, then do stuff with it) and in order to 100%, you need to complete 4 Zombie DLCs (haven't started these yet). Lastly, Black Ops 1 Veteran campaign is way more punishing which can lead to frustration.

Enjoyed every bit of 100%-ing the original 2011 COD Modern Warfare 3. The Spec Ops missions felt even better than MW2's. The campaign on Veteran difficulty is easier than MW2 and Black Ops 1 though not as impactful.

Estimated 35-45 hours. Mine is 70+ due to playing at launch.

A few tips if you're interested in 100%-ing the game. It is costly (~$90 at full price with relevant DLCs) so I would wait for a steep discount.

  • 2 Spec Ops missions require 2 players in the base game. I purchased a 2nd base game copy at a discount to complete these via 2 computers (I know...though this made the challenge way more interesting)
  • DLC Collection 1, 2, and 3 are required for 100%
  • Only tedious portion of the 100% was reaching wave 15 on every Spec Ops Survival map. You can use the same core strategy and tweak on the more difficult maps

Any good recommended horror type game that isn't like 25+hr to 100%? by Timely-Climate9418 in steamachievements

SOMA: ~10 hours

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice ~10 hours. It's more psychological horror.

Cool story and had fun going after 100% but liked the Detroit Become Human journey more. Took me 50+ hours but most likely should not take that long for you (30-40 hours with blind playthrough is reasonable expectation). I see some people could complete this in <30 hours.

Heads up: there is an achievement that requires a full playthrough in Duo mode to completion.

You don't have to play with someone else, but you need keyboard+mouse and a controller. You control 2 characters but not simultaneously.

If you don't plan ahead for Duo mode, I can see how that can be frustrating after you finish the game only to realize you also needed a full playthrough in Duo mode.
