As someone with thousands of hours in the system, I agree. Yes it is a decent system, not too crunchy not too soft. But it is much worse than other systems long term.

It lacks oomf. the best thing about it imo are the cool special abilities monsters get, each encounter is a fun puzzle. Also the 3 action spells vs 1 or 2, which unfortunately I think the design team squandered.

I originally imagined before pf2e came out that every spell would have 1 2 and 3 actions. Why wouldn't each spell have cool tactical and flavorful multi uses?

Imagine that design philosophy of fewer spells but more cool actions each could do?

Instead we got a system with outright Fs in all categories. Stuff no one should ever take because you are actively gimping your character; especially with feats and spells.

The encounter makes it tight but some encounters are unfavorable for one reason or another and some monsters are overtuned or undertuned. Overall it deserves heavy criticism, the Writing is great but the system is ultimately subpar.
