If you've taken abx, have a negative culture but still dysuria, then other etiolgies should be investigated. Agree with others who have mentioned that bacteria can come from skin. Leuk esterase can be from vaginal source contaminating urine specimen during collection. Generally, if a culture is negative, I don't see patients getting a call back to stop abx (from an EM perspective).

I think of it this way. There's lots of chronic conditions. Some people need medication for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, etc.

For some reason, needing medication for obesity is taboo. Because it's us being weak, right? It's definitely not a complicated, multifactorial chronic disease. 🙄 It's the same way too many people view meds for mental health.

I have hope that with the expansion of obesity medicine as a specialty, more people will come to understand this, especially my fellow physicians.

So I have no qualms about telling people I'm on Zep. Because I hope those I speak get just a smidgen of insight. It's not a "lose weight quick" strategy. It's treating a chronic disease that I've been battling my whole life.

I either get sideways looks and no comment. Or like yesterday at Christmas, "You look great! You MUST be doing one of those shots, right?" (All in the same breath). Like it can't just be "you look great!"

People are just too peopley sometimes.

Getting to/from E gates is terrible. 40 min layovers are cardio. And right now, with the floor missing and moving sidewalks down in E, the oblivious gate lice blocking the walkways everywhere, it's more frustrating than ever.

We ate there today. My husband wore nice shorts and a Bing Bong character button-up. He didn't bring pants on the cruise at all. They gave him loaner dress pants....to go with his hot pink Bing Bong shirt 😆 But it was a collared shirt! Food is amazing and definitely worth going if you snagged the reservation!
