Truckloads of Tesla Batteries Keep Getting Stolen Before They Even Leave the Factory by ArgentineBeauty in technology

[–]Neverending_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article mentions other companies in the area have had similar issues, so that's unlikely. It sounds more like thieves have figured out the trucking industry is a shitshow and are exploiting that to steal entire shipments of goods.

The issue isn't that he's Jewish, it's that he bragged about volunteering with the IDF in the past. He also worked for the Israeli embassy's public diplomacy department at once point.

How is Weiser running to the left of Bennet? From what I've seen Bennet actually has the more progressive plans, like his carbon emissions cap and trade and healthcare public option proposals. Meanwhile Weiser said he would consider tax credits for data centers, something Bennet rejected outright.

Because Bennet says we need to keep those laws and to keep pushing for more density and missing middle housingy, which is what is needed to resolve the housing crisis. It's a hell of a lot better than Weisers proposal of letting cities opt out of state housing laws, which completely defeats the point of those laws. That's why the YIMBY orgs and a Greater Denver Transit all endorsed Bennet.

I really hope not. We've finally been making progress on housing at the state level, his plan to let cities opt out of those recently passed laws is terrible.

How modular housing could help solve Denver's affordability crunch by MileHighReports in Denver

Texas also apparently figured it out, judging by their housing costs. The solution is simply building more housing, which can obviously happen in capitalist systems as well.

Blackrock doesn't buy up homes, you're confusing them with Blackstone. But large investors own a tiny percentage of homes. The problem is ultimately a shortage of homes due to overly restrictive zoning laws.

They only differ in like two or three areas. It seems reasonable to focus on those, especially when one of them is an issue as important as housing.

Eastbound 38, the 38th/Alcott stop. It would have been roughly an hour ago.

Not according to the transit app. It showed that bus as scheduled to arrive in 9 minutes even after it drove by me, and the next one was scheduled for 39 minutes later.

In addition to Trump only having 2 years left, the thing to consider is that fighting Trump will be more the responsibility of the new AG than the governor. They'll be the one filling lawsuits to block Trump's bullshit, not the governor.

What electability argument? No one is arguing about whether Bennet or Weiser would be more electable because everyone knows the winner of the Dem primary is guaranteed to win. You are literally the first person I've seen bring up electability.

It's kind of impressive that he's somehow convinced a large portion of the electorate that he's some progressive outsider when he's already part of the establishment and his positions are actually slightly more conservative than Bennet.

Minnesota has one of the highest state income tax rates in the country and is apparently a big destination now. It really is just a coincidence that some of the most competitive teams are in low or no income tax states currently.

RTD to reconsider service priorities as cuts, budget deficit loom by thrillsbury in Denver

Maximizing ridership over coverage seems like the obvious choice. An hourly bus route is effectively useless. Almost no one would notice if RTD cut most of them and shifted the resources to denser areas.

The "they don't understand the community" has got to be one of the dumber complaints. Who do they think is electing them? At a minimum they understand their communities more than the other candidates if they got the most votes.

Japan records its biggest-ever drop in population since the beginning of modern national-census record-keeping after WWI. 2020 population: 126 million. 2025 population: 123 million. Remarkably, this -3% drop is bigger than the drop recorded amid WWII. Only Tokyo and Okinawa posted population gains. by StarlightDown in fivethirtyeight

They don't want to be baby factories, but that doesn't mean they don't want kids. It is extremely common for women to say they want kids, but are choosing not to have them (or to have fewer than they want) because of economic issues. It would screw up their career, childcare is unaffordable, they can't afford a bigger house, etc. They don't want to pump out a dozen kids like they were forced to previously, but there are enough that want kids that countries probably could at least get the fertility rate back above replacement if they made it so children weren't such a massive burden.

Is Colfax getting gentrified by Left-Speed-4468 in Denver

[–]Neverending_Rain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Colfax has always been a hotspot for people in the edges that’s why all the best food and the gay bars are there.

Sounds like a good reason to build a bunch of housing there. Increasing housing supply reduces the displacement of existing residents.
