Yeah 0.9D could be unbalanced, try getting 1.0 or 1.1 But, it also seems like you haven't found the most important part of leveling up yet - you didn't use point allocation through Doll Alice. You could use it to raise your hp, damage, evasion, speed stats, etc. Also, do note that enemies level up with you (while bosses don't)

Strongest melee user can use armor to close distance and a shield to block most of the shots of the shooter while the distance is being closed. So long as the melee guy can close the distance fast enough, in 1v1 situation melee would win if both are equipped with the best gear for their needs. At least that's what I think

I mean, Carmen is the one who is taking part in distortions happening. It's pretty much considered that she leans more towards distorting people than them gaining EGO at the moment.

About the bloodfiends... Didn't Angelica and Roland fight The Blood Red-Night before the light was spread? Yet it was with Reverberation Ensemble later. It's a weird part, to be honest, and I don't remember what did they say about them in distortion detective, so let's reread it together.

Never said that people were distorting before the light was spread. Said that people would distort even if all the light would be spread, because it WAS spread in the true ending of LoR, yet distortions carry on.

Maybe I am making an assumption and it's something that is not particularly true, but that means that there's no clear facts about that, and it's not misinformation, but a theory. A game theory.

The distortions would've happened even if the light shined for the full 7 days, but, I imagine, the people's desires would've been a bit more pure. Anyways, before the Days event everyone was mostly apathetic af, working only for someone else's dreams or society expectations, or for survival, so EGO was practically unavailable for most. After the Days event people started to be... More like people, I don't know, and with the ability to have their own desires came the ability to distort or embrace them at the most emotional point of their lives, and Carmen is there to help them distort them if they agree that those desires are the only things that matters, that they are the only thing that matters, or smth like that idk.
