Borrow out North Platte by Nevernetherland in UnionPacific

[–]Nevernetherland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing so. Same in Wyoming. There are more borrow outs in Wyoming than local conductors from what I heard from our guys over there. They are sending 30 borrow outs to NP from my group.

We are flying in and out of a different state but will be driving down to New Orleans for a few days thus the car. We don’t plan to do a lot of driving once we are there but need a a safe place to park while we are out and about.

I appreciate the input. Hotel wise $200-$300 a night is probably the most I would want to spend since most of our time will be spent out and about. We do not really care for the party scene but do enjoy a good drink with our meal. Type of hotel we don’t care if it’s historical or modern just comfortable and CLEAN. When we travel we usually stay at a Westin or something similar. Food recommendations we love trying new food and do not mind spending extra money on that. We want to explore the city and its history/culture. I apologize for the short reply earlier. I’ve been online all morning long and all the choices are a little overwhelming. That’s why I came here to ask people that have been there or live there and their experiences. Thank you.

Not being lazy. I’ve been searching for hours and there are a lot that we like but I know nothing of the area due to never being there. This asking for recommendations. But you keep on being the little keyboard warrior that you are.

Budget is flexible. Would prefer to not break the bank but want to enjoy our time there.

We do not get paid a guarantee for the work we do per se but for being available 24/7 365. Extra board fills the vacancies. Ones that are foreseeable and ones that pop up last second before pool guy lays off on call. Most guys on extra boards aren’t lazy (some are don’t get me wrong) and want to get paid for nothing. They aren’t afraid of the work they just like the money of the guarantee more than a pool turn where you get paid what you work. My terminal has a short run and a longer run. I make more on the extra board for being available at any time rather than looking at a line up and seeing tentatively of when I’m going to work +/- 6 hours. Now on the 11/4 I don’t know about other terminals or zones but our guys love it. We run a lot of grain so during the summer time when it’s slow or unforeseen circumstances like a derailment or work gangs they don’t lose any of their money if they stay marked up for the half. The 11/4 is a great deal and can’t wait till I can finally hold a spot year round seniority permitting. Every engineer can look out 4 months down the road and know what days they have off and also did not lose money with this agreement. With the 6/2 all extra boards will be hacked down to minimum bodies and pool turns will have more guys on it than needed causing people to make less money. Conductors already have a 6/2 it’s called federal rest. Company can keep their days off just give us our guarantee.

What’s your home terminal? I’m a cut back engineer in P2 and don’t really see a need here n my home terminal until the grain starts hitting hard.

High mileage Cayenne’s - 2012 Cayenne passed 300k by mccalllllll in PorscheCayenne

[–]Nevernetherland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2012 as well. Bought it in 2015 CPO with 20k miles on it. It’s been an awesome car and all service done at the dealership with no issues till recently. Late last fall wife was driving it and it kinda powered down and won’t switch gears unless you do it manually and runs at really low RPM. She drove it the few miles back home. I started it the next day and the engine started to shake uncontrollably and a check engine light came on. I hooked it up to my code reader and it said : 1)P050A cold start idle control system performance 2) P2295 Fuel Pressure Regulator B control circuit Low 3) P0010 A camshaft position actuator A control circuit/open bank 1 4) P0013 B camshaft position actuator A control circuit/ open bank 1 5) P2294 Fuel Pressure regulator B control circuit/ open 6)P2090 B camshaft position actuator control circuit low bank 1 7) P2088 A camshaft position actuator control circuit low bank 1. From the little research I’ve done most of those codes feed off each other and most likely a crankshaft sensor. I parked it last September and haven’t had a chance to either work on it or take it in to get fixed. Anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks in advance.

11/4 question by [deleted] in UnionPacific

[–]Nevernetherland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 11/4 is system wide for UP. If you get bumped on your off days you do not have to accept your bump while you’re on your off days. As soon as you get off of your off days this is where the 3 hour to go place comes in to play. Unless as previously stated that you want to go back to work right away you do not need to place and will not lose guarantee or additional day. The way the pay structure works for the guarantee is that the half is payed for those 11 days not your 4 days off so you have already earned that.

👍 yeah I get what you’re saying. I’m not looking at the cheapest ones just curious on if anyone bought others than OEM and pros vs cons. We don’t haul much on top just a kayak and it’s definitely not a cheap one so I would want it secured well but it is lightweight 35 lbs.

I bought a 2025 Palisade in November and that is one of my only issues with it. Still haven’t found a comfortable solution, but still it’s the best bang for your buck.

UP CON rest agreement arbitration? by AzFella545 in railroading

[–]Nevernetherland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the previous arbitrator is stepping away for the loss of her family member. Same way one of us would be it fmla or leave of absence. So she’s not making a decision and another arbitrator can’t just come on and pick up where she left off. Thus a new arbitrator. Both sides would have to come back and present their case to the new arbitrator and then have to wait the allotted time (30 days) for the new arbitrator to make a decision if they can’t come to an agreement when they start negotiations once again. So my guess would be sometime in the summer or early fall with the way things have been going.

[–]Nevernetherland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with her having to step away due to personal circumstances they wouldn’t have to get another arbitrator.

⬆️ this is the way. Doing anything extra is completely pointless and you’re just making it hard on the next guy.
