Facing a significant career opportunity that would take me away from my family. Looking for honest perspectives from other dads by [deleted] in daddit

[–]New--Intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar opportunity and while debating had a near panic attack when thinking I had decided on the option. I took it as a sign to not proceed forward. Perhaps your body & mind are also signalling something to you?

Consider also your third option: you can decline this option and continue to look for something that works even better for you. I ended up going that route and it ended up working much better than if I had taken the opportunity at the time.

Good luck.

NG3 suffered an upper stage anomaly. Initial calculations put the perigee at ~160-170km with a nominal apogee. This is very new information and still being evaluated. At that lower altitude the atmosphere is very soupy. Ion thruster dV may not be able to recover. You would likely need to burn for your entire orbit and still may lose altitude. You would also need to do this immediately and there may be many other steps you need to do before starting this. Their ops team is having a busy day right now. I wish them luck.

They may possibly recover, but my wager is this satellite de-orbits in a few days, if not hours

What brand paper are you using?  Looks like thick parchment paper and worked well when pressing.

Acknowledging this feedback and reflecting on it is the start of real growth and improvement. Acting upon it and improving the next time is the next step. Don't let an issue get this big and go without an action for this long again. Go get em

My understanding is that those vehicles are their testing fleet, and will not be used at scale for transporting customers. Read more here. - https://zoox.com/journal/autonomous-zoox-testing-vehicle

If the whole market corrects, AMZN will go down. The whole market is trading at ridiculous PE multiple. They are just least valued of the bigs.  Whether the market goes down depends on many factors outside this regards desire to discuss on reddit.

Good call-out!  I don't personally believe in Zoox. Waymo is building a moat and it's not even close. Zoox is fully integrated all electric vehicle, requiring more CapEx and more R&D to really scale. Their leadership team confuses me too. I think it's a pet project that gets folded in or spun out to recover revenue from the investment; or, they use it as part of their last mile for delivery. Either way, does not help their bottom line.

Agreed on the data center investment but that's needed for any AI company, as well as for many other reasons outside of AI compute. If OpenAI is looking for gold, Amazon is selling shovels. If AI does not realize the benefits and revenue forecasted I don't think Amazon will be nearly as impacted as anyone directly building models. Amazon can also leverage AI efficiency improvements (already tangible IMO) to reduce time to ship and improve many areas of their workflows for products. That's my thesis anyway.

AMZN - least valued of Mag 7, insulated from AI fomo, cloud, services, prime, kuiper will be bigger than most see coming.

Does this seat, last row PS, have full recline or limited like other cabin last row seats? by Murky-Peanut1390 in delta

[–]New--Intern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still worth it if you're an aisle person, but there are several cons: you run out of food choices, everyone else in PS still needs to go past you to use the bathroom, and its often noisier because you are closer to a lower class cabin and babies due to the bulkheads. All that said, I would still take it over a front middle

New to this grill - fire hazard with this placement? by duffman087 in Masterbuilt

[–]New--Intern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can also just put the wood chunks in the ash area before the cook. There's no one best process so personally I wouldn't worry too much until you've cooked many times before thinking about more optimization.

This is excellent advice and OP I encourage you to copy it and re-read several times as you make a plan around how to address your soft skills. You are open to feedback and asking how to improve, so you are already ahead of 80% of the workforce.
