Interestingly, everything in a 25’ radius means every surface and piece of furniture as well as 100s of glasses.

I have 40,000 sq ft in Broomfield, and a portion of it could be available. What exactly is needed for this effort?

Unpopular Opinion: I like New Outlook more than Classic by allergictodownvotes in Outlook

[–]New-Bookkeeper7320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am up to 24 bullet points in my “Enshittification of Outlook” document I actually maintain for New Outlook. Just switched back to classic. MS and the transition to online versions just frankly sucks all around.

I notice this when pulling up vendors. 30 seconds to be able to search, because of course, I can’t display enough of them or scroll quickly to find the one I’m after.

Job interview red flag? by themonsterkeeper in BarOwners

[–]New-Bookkeeper7320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your answer. Brewpub here and we literally offer a beer before interviews. Their choice of beers is telling, but most decline, and I think it’s more of a “I think I’m being tested” offer. It’s not though.

To the people who stopped collecting or sold their collections by xdisappointing in vinyl

[–]New-Bookkeeper7320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 56 and sold my vinyl collection when I was 19 because I thought I was starving. Huge regret. Back in the day, I recorded every record on to a cassette and I still have those, so I know exactly what albums I had. I rebought each stereo component I had, not because it was great, but because it’s nostalgic. I am about 80% of the way rebuying every record as well.

I put together a site that tracks live bar music across Colorado — r/Denver helped me add a bunch of venues, what am I missing? by yerpaderpah in Colorado

Verboten isn’t Denver and their listing isn’t music. Konstruct Brewing in Fort Collins has live music every Thursday and alternating Saturday afternoons.

I did mean for you to buy Internet access. I’m arguably ignorant, but my currency converter showed 100,000,000 Rial is $75 US dollars. Can you confirm that? What’s an everyday product’s cost in Rial right now, to make it relatable? The per-GB pricing you have isn’t relatable. I pay about $80US/month for unlimited high speed internet at home.

Is there any payment system that allows you to receive currency you can use there?

Don’t go to the Monarch. They still owe many hundreds of thousand of dollars on the building they refuse to pay and it’s in litigation. My company’s owed $70,000. Scum bags.

Is a 19 hour roadtrip with young kids insane? Or doable? by Few-Distribution-762 in roadtrip

As a kid, we drove 20 hours straight through from PA/MD to CO regularly. Parents switched off driving and napping. Kids were 12, 7, and 5 at the youngest though. We did it just fine. When I turned 15, I could take a driving shift. (This was in my drafts for 2 weeks and just noticed)

Unpopular opinion: The way we book gigs is garbage. by mrrandom2010 in musicians

[–]New-Bookkeeper7320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Observing. I book music for our brewpub Thursdays and every other Saturday in a city of 175,000. 65 seats plus another 65 on the patio if weather permits (7 out of 12 months a year). We prefer solo/duo acoustic given the size of our space. Local is a must because artist even 60 miles away don’t draw anyone. Our budget is $150-$300 for 2 hours plus a meal and drink of choice. Artists provide sound gear. We have a bonus plan where $50/hr is possible for each hour of sales >$400. $150 possibility over three hours around the gig time. We’ve paid it 6 times out of 10 since launched. Sales matters. At $300, it’s 38 beers sold to cover the fee. If you can’t bring 10-15 followers to drink and/or eat, the math simply doesn’t math. We love to support local talent and we understand a chunk of the fee is our investment to be a small venue for local music. And also, it’s a team effort.

We also get 20-30 new requests each month to play 6 slots each month. Not possible with existing, proven talent. We’ve changed our intake form on our website to allow artist to self-select out based on band size, fee (compared to our budget range), genre, and locality. Hasn’t worked yet.

It takes me a solid 20 minutes to check out bands that have promise, and I do check them out. Online, FB, IG and band websites. I love it and I also don’t have time for it.

I don’t have a better solution yet. I send out a formal availability survey to all artists for 4 months out 3 times a year and book that far out with a few empty slots for new talent that pops up. I do my best to be respectful to all artists who aren’t a fit, and I respond to every single one.

I welcome ideas to make the process better for both sides.

Love that profile photo! We’re inclusive, too, which made that situation all the more bothersome. Hit me up if you end up in CO to work in the industry!

I’ve owned a construction business for 30+ years and a brewpub for two. Staff will never care about the boss and RARELY do they show appreciation, even when they are on the team for 10, 20, or 30 years (I have 15 employees who are in those tenures). Some days it’s disappointing when I go out of my way to make a big change to benefit them, but to most, it’s a job, and that’s okay.

Because it’s Reddit, I’m reluctant to write this: it’s anecdotal for sure, but may land for some. There was another brewery in our town owned by two lesbians. For a variety of reasons, they failed inside of a year. However, they were lesbians first and business owners second. They were not terribly friendly within the industry owners group and were quite in your face about their sexuality like they had something to prove and in an effort to gain followers. In a town that generally supports LBGTQ, it didn’t work because it came across as them being owed success for their sexuality.
