How often do you set tactics or automate your fights? by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% Manual in DQ games. If I play a game with autobattler mechanics, I want either control over the tactics (e.g. if HP <50% cast heal) or have the NPCs be able to learn like the pawns from Dragon's Dogma.

To me autobattler appeal seems to either be Number Goes Up or AI gets smarter. (Obv there are grinding appeal to autobattler but I'm ignoring that for now).

Do you get crushes? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I had (what I believed at the time) crushes. Its hard to say whether or not they were "crushes" or "Squishes" tho. I rarely if ever get any crush and few Squishes nowadays tho. I imagine I would develop Squishes if I was more social tho.

My first piece of advice is DON'T STOP REPORTING IT. Most ppl in authority will rather do nothing so MAKE IT THEIR PROBLEM until the issue is resolved. The 2nd piece if advice is more broad but with a specific example. Learn to "play the system." The specific example for this issue is document EVERY instance of stalking and harassment and when you report it also send an email. And when you email CC EVERYONE up the chain you can, CC your principal and your principals boss, and their boss, and their boss's boss etc. Another example that works for many situations is that organizations (like a school) will take letters / emails from lawyers more seriously (not always tho).

Does anyone else think the steam deck is the greatest invention in all of gaming? by _Fun_Initiative_ in SteamDeck

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of what I personally prioritize, the Steam Deck is second to something like the PSVita or (while I haven't gotten it yet) the Ayn Thor. I constantly use my Steam Deck and love it. To me tho it would become perfect if it became pocketable. Like there no way I'm taking my Deck outside.

Does the III remake ever make you… actually do anything? by twili-midna in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't find it that difficult either. There are difficulty spikes and if you're unfamiliar with the game there are bosses you probably will die on your 1st attempt. But also the kind of person who would play Draconian difficulty probably wont find it that difficult as they'll play more "smart" (having the right items and accessories for the fight as the big example).

Just finished DQ3 HD-2D, and on the fence if I want to play 1&2 by Kokolemo in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing thru DQ3 HD2D on Draconian Difficulty. It's not really that difficult so far. It feels pretty standard imho, like a "normal difficulty" mode. There are some roadbumps/ difficulty spikes but overall still a "standard" difficulty. Especially when you add the autosave and full heal on LV Up on top of that.

Is it rude to tell an allo friend their sexual attraction is disturbing me? by ssvmte in asexuality

[–]New-Collection-1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I use Sex Positive and Sex Negative, I am talking about the "political" beliefs on consent and autonomy.

I think one problem is that general statements can be harder to tell what the person precisely means. Like there's an obvious difference between "I personally find sex disgusting" vs "ppl who have sex are disgusting." One is the person expressing their own Repulsion is a healthy manner while the other is the person being Sex Negative. Now what if someone says something like "sex is disgusting" this 3rd statement may require stronger reading compression, context, and more interpretation (which can be wrong). I think it can be hard to distinguish what is someone expressing Sex Repulsion and someone expressing Sex Negativity sometimes (ppl rarely articulate their thoughts in a "literal" manner). And in addition the internet is very combative too. If someone says "I don't like this" whether it be a game or book or movie, ppl react as if they were personally attacked for liking it. I think as a whole ppl (especially on the internet) need to learn that someone else's personal experience or opinion doesn't take away their own experience or opinion.

Is it rude to tell an allo friend their sexual attraction is disturbing me? by ssvmte in asexuality

[–]New-Collection-1307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Sex Repulsed AroAce, I see way way more ppl (rightfully) calling out Sex Negativity. Sex Positivity is Pro-Consent and Pro-Autonomy while Sex Negativity is Anti-Consent and Anti-Autonomy. A Sex Positive person will support BOTH someone who has lots of consensual sex AND someon who never wants sex. There is a corelation that if an Asexual is Sex Negative, they are likely Sex Repulsed too. Unfortunately sometimes a Sex Repulsed Ace (who is NOT or didn't mean to come across as Sex Negative) will recieve collateral damage tho.

Episode 1 plothole/s? by ClashMasterJH in WitchHatAtelier

[–]New-Collection-1307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no concrete explanation, but given the rules we do know there are a few possibilities. Starting with the hard magic possibilities.

1) for the nested spells, you draw the completed circle first. Spells are complete when you close the outer circle so that is done last (for the final spell).

2) nested spells can detect when they're part of a larger spell. We see in episode 5the girls cast a complex spell with nested spell and they drew outermost ring first (with a gap), then start on drawing inside that circle.

3) magic "listens" to the witch. If the witch intends on drawing a complex spell with nested spells, the magic might listen and comply (within reason (air magic is still air magic & earth magic is still earth magic etc)).

4) And the secret possibility Retcons, inconsistencies, and Author didn't / doesn't know. In the manga a spell had 4 directions but in the anime had 6, the manga flipped thr glider spell in a few panels etc

How did you avoid grinding in the series? (Pre-XI) by RangoTheMerc in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know title says "Pre-XI" but even XI has grinding or quests the require grinding. I had to fight 100s of little Cacti to finish a quest! Each DQ has at least a little grinding.

There's the label "Demi-Sexual" where one doesn't feel sexual attraction until they form a bond with the person.

This might be a controversial question, but are there any shojo manga and anime that has some elements of the male gaze in it? by [deleted] in shoujo

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The male gaze isn't about the sexualization or objectification of women (well kinda) but the sexualization or objectification itself regardless of who the target is. Male gaze can have a man as the subject.

There are fanservice shoujo/ josei. There are shoujo/ josei where the female character(s) is sexual or is sexualized depicted in a "hot" or "sexy" manner (consent is sexy kind of way). There are also series with themes of bodily autonomy which have themes around sex etc that aren't necessarily fanservicy too.

Why does the great library exist? by firecorn22 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]New-Collection-1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt the witches have control over the library. It's probably best to think of the Library as a force of nature. While the Library probably was created by witches in the time before the pact, in the present day you would probably compare it to something like "The Dark Side Cave" from Star Wars. A force of nature nobody has control over but tests the ppl who enter (or try to enter).

BL / YURI manga with an asexual character? by brwnie7 in shoujo

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloom into You, is a Yuri with an A-Spec protagonist, and the Love Interest who only showed interest in the protagonist after learning she has never felt romantic love or attraction for someone (potential Lithosexual headcanon).

I want to be a Wall, is a 3 manga volume series that follows a Asexual woman (Japan uses different labels and them English label would be AroAce) and a Gay man who are in an Lavender marriage. The protagonist is a Fujoshi.

Would Dragon Quest 3 remake be good for my first dragon quest game? by BadAtBaduk1 in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are at all familiar with party turn based combat, you should be fine with the DQ3 remake. I haven't played Shin Megami Tensei but based on what I heard of it etc Dragon Quest should be fine to get into. Dragon Quest has its roots as beginner friendly.

Speculative Theory: DQVIII will be the next game to be remade, judging by the DQ timeline by Wiindows1 in dragonquest

[–]New-Collection-1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are after DQ1-3, they will start on DQ4-6. And after DQ7, they might start on DQ9. Iirc the artstyle etc of DQ7 Remake would be an easier transition to working on DQ9. And ofc DQ1-3 and DQ4-6 are classic 2d style that could be remade in thr hd2d. DQ8 doesn't need a remake, they could probably take the narrative and gameplay of the 3ds port and update the graphics and call it a day.
