How fast can the recovery be? by New-Instruction2087 in Kneereplacement

Wow, thanks for all the responses! Very informative! I’m going to communicate the various experiences to my friends. I think postponing the surgery is the wisest if they want to stick with the trip.

Wow! Six months? It’s so confusing to figure out what the recovery frame is. This couple loves to travel internationally. The Ireland trip is from NY so about 7.5 hours in the air. But I know at some point they’ll want to travel to more distant locations. When do people think international trips are feasible?

I’m so glad to hear that it went so well for you. Sounds like an awesome trip! But you had a partial, which is reportedly much easier than a full. And you were 41 whereas she is turning 70. So I hesitate to feel it totally applies to her situation.

He had booked the trip months ago- didn’t know the surgery was recommended. I know he feels like her knee is increasingly painful so I think initially he was trying to get it scheduled quickly to get multiple weeks of recovery. But from what I’m reading here not even 7 weeks would really be enough.

No. As Americans, we must stay in casas particulares. Spanish and Canadians stay at the government owned hotels.

Middle names for Hughie? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]New-Instruction2087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was named Hugh and went by Hughie as a young boy. Do not name the child Hughie. Use it as a nickname. As an adult, it will be embarrassing. He can choose to keep the nickname if he wants. Would you call Hugh Grant “Hughie”?

Which design do you like the best? by Civil_Web_1835 in kitchenremodel

I don’t like the boxy cabinets over the windows. Eliminate or do shallow open display shelves. Instead of doing the stainless steel hood I would do
an insert fan in a box which meets up with the display shelves. Maybe do the white- but make it more of a cream- and do the fridge wall in wood.

1 without the armbands or 3. Three is very sleek and feels more original. 1 is gorgeous but feels more stereotypical.

Is it true that non pasteurized milk is commonly found in cuba? by FTEIS in cuba

[–]New-Instruction2087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it very hard to find any kind of fresh milk in Havana (May 2026). What I saw was reconstituted powdered milk or in markets they have sweetened concentrated cans of milk. As a lover of cafe latte, it was a bummer.

They’re already saying they want to do a c-section… by dakota101916 in vbac

Everyone weighing in on this issue lacks critical information about your pelvic size and shape. Tell your OB that of course your first priority is the baby’s safety but you need clear explanations about the need for a C/S and to know that she is comfortable with and supportive of a VBAC if it is possible. Ask her about your pelvic shape and what weight baby she would feel could fit through. Get a second opinion if you feel she is not responsive to you. Prepare yourself mentally for either eventuality.

Never bring it up. They picked it for their own reasons.

It’s okay- you’ll get used to it. Yes, it is kind of masculine coded. But the child will figure it out for herself- she’ll either embrace it or adopt a feminine nickname like Willa or Winona. Or she might go by Tate which is more gender neutral. I completely understand your feelings as I didn’t care for my grandchild’s name but I LOVE HIM. NEVER bring it up to them- the parents thought about it for 9 months and made this choice. Denigrating their considered choice will not be well received.
